i work in construction in nyc and its not unusual to wait 45 minutes for an ambulance in manhattan. last year my partner had a seizure on a job site and i took her to the hospital in a taxi because it was quicker than waiting for an ambulance.

So they're all plain clothes and not detectives? Because I'm still under the impression that, at the very least, detectives don't wear body cams. But generally, for plain clothes officers, the most they show is their shields.

@@helloqtip21 I left NY when I was 12 in 1994. Rode the subway last time in 2016. Let’s just say, it’s actually not as bad as it used to be. At least vendors aren’t everywhere selling BS crap and at least there is not graffiti everywhere!

@KimMarco - That is a big station! Back around 1980, I was in uniform coming back from court and riding the train back up to my command. As I was pulling into the train into that station, I heard the call of officer needing assistance over the radio. I jumped off the train and found the nearest booth. No one there. I asked where the officer was at. They gave the booth number. Being that I never worked the command that covered that station, I ran from booth to booth. Don't remember exactly, but that station has like 6 - 8 booths. I ran my rear end off - I'm guessing I ran full speed over a mile just to find the right booth but the officer and other back up who was familiar with the station were already leaving.... and I was totally gassed out. If you never worked that station you would have no idea. Neither did I back then. Not sad, but it's literally an underground city. I remember the year because I was so close to help yet so far... Can't forget that incident.
