It took many moving parts to deliver much needed infrastructure to Tokelau.
Given the remote location of the atolls, we sent a ship, helicopters and personnel from the Royal New Zealand Navy, New Zealand Army and Royal New Zealand Air Force to deliver tonnes of essential equipment that will improve the lives of Tokelauans on the Fakaofo, Nukunonu and Atafu atolls.
Ke toe fetaui ki tatou,Tofa Tokelau / until we meet again, farewell Tokelau.

Thank you so much to the NZ defence force and NZ Government for helping Tokelau with the necessary provisions esp the water tanks as Tokelau is very isolated from the rest of the world. God Bless you - also for your COVID-19 protection

Be an engineer. Infantry is boring as and they never get deployed. There’s only 2 infantry deployed right now and there high ranked officers who train other soldiers

@@TheEnemyCombatant Good point, but in a few years I'd wager we'll need as many grunts as we can get our hands on.

it’s weird to see that operation Calypso since Calypso is a name of the music from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹, however great provisions and services NZ 😊🇯🇵

Calypso is from Trinidad and is normally associated with the Caribbean. Kinda like Reggae which is Jamaican. Weird!

It's a big waste of money!!! I mean the bloody place be under water soon... So you may as well ship them all to Auckland if you really wanna help...

That’s a lot of resource used moving one item at a time. Is this not a regular OP for the Nzdf, why not get Army Engineers on board and build a jetty or a wharf? Soo you can use landing craft to ship goods to it. As a tax payer I feel our military persons are not utilised efficiently. As the captain said it gets hot on that metal deck, work smarter NZ government and look 25 years out. Build infrastructure now!

@@That-Moto-Guy I do, hence I have a voice. Our system doesn’t respect our forces! Give them the tools to do the training to do the job effectively or building infrastructure is not a better use of our military’s skills you think? They built a bridge during the floods on the west coast.

That's why they started early in the morning when it was cooler. As for building a wharf... it is not as easy as just building a wharf. With the reefs... There is already a jetty there you can see it in the video, and I am pretty sure they used all forms transport to get personal and equipment ashore and most likely to shallow for Canterbury to past the outer reef and dock. They still have to be able to do these types of operations no matter what the temperature is... Using the helos they can land the items and equipment where they need to and not have to worry about getting the huge items off the landing craft, on to the jetty moving them from the jetty to the truck etc The landing craft most likely can not beach due to it is a reef atoll and if they could you would have the same issue of moving the the stores over off the beach to a vehicle to where it is required. when the helo can bring it in directly. The helos can do the job quicker as well.

Good thoughts Gear Gear - each atoll of Tokelau is roughly 4/5 rugby fields n is virtually untouched they are thinking of the long term effects marine wise of harbours etc...
