I think the younger Pavarotti would have been a better comparison. Caruso was an old recording but the beauty still comes through, if only we could have heard him through a modern medium. For me Bjorling's voice, the beauty, the emotion singing this hymn is the finest.

Jussi Bjorling/David Phelps Saw Jussi sing in a park in Stockholm, 1956. Magical. Love David Phelps. He has an amazing voice, and so much emotion/passion.

@@TeacherPaulReacts he sang with the Gaither vocal band for a couple of decades. Amazing videos on RU-vid, Now sings around the world by himself. Amazing voice, but most of all something about his singing touches the depths of your heart.. He has written many songs. Check out him singing “no More Night” or Song for Sinners, it covers his vocal range, and really displays his heart felt singing

lf you watch that whole video of David Phelps he shows amazing vocal control and passion. makes you believe every word he sings. draws you in like no other vocalist I've ever seen. for him it's more than just a performance. hands down he's the best!

I have said it a thousands since the first time I heard david phelps O holy night...GOd should have taken him to heaven on a lightning bolt at the end of that song....nothing left to do in life! He totally changed after that perfomace...fancy clothes...fancy hairdo...fancy attitude...just wasn't the same anymore after this peformance.

My favorite among these gentlemen would be David Phelps. I have heard this song sung by many performers, and I ask myself.....who sings it because it's a Christmas song and it seems anyone who does a Christmas CD adds this to their list, or, who sings it because they believe in what the words truly mean. Listening to the entire performance by Mr. Phelps, the gift of the Holy Spirit shines through his music and that makes him the best (in my opinion). Thanks for doing this reaction. It was enjoyable to hear the various singers perform.

I have top three, without ranking them; Jussi Björling, Andrea Bocelli and David Phelps (I think Jussi Björling might lose a little in the comparison because of an old record where some of his clearity really can´t be perfectly heard, so maybe he is no 1, but it´s tight).

They all song this song well but there is a difference between performing a technically brilliantly version of a song. And singing a song by with every fibre of your being too honour the one you Love as an act of Worship to God. That's for why yes I can admire the performances of many if not all of those shown, in different ways. But David Phelps one wins as my be favourite because you can see it's truly more than simply singing the song well to him, it's not about performance, he's singing it to give Glory and honour to God.

It is a matter of taste. As a swede I'm bias to Jussi of course. Bocellis tone is very good as well and both he and Caruso sang in orignal french. Carusos recording is from 1916 I beleive! He was THE tenor. Phelps sang in a higher key than the others but I found it a bit to pushy to really enjoy it as much as I should. I think he is a great singer as is Jonathan Antoine. Home Free is a great a capella group with great arrangments and a good sense of humour (not for this song but a lot of others).

Some might disagree, but none of these is my favorite, except Caruso. My favorite tenors would be Mario Lanza and then Richard Tucker. Now while not a tenor. Andy Williams O Holy Night is fantastic. Now of a little different. You should hear Amira Willighagen do the song at 11, absolute Beauty

I wish they had included the performance of O Holy Night by Marc Martel. He is a fantastic singer, who naturally sounds a lot like Freddie Mercury. Check out his version!

I’ve removed David Phelps from my reaction , favorite of. The Video site is for the ‘ Love Fest’ of David Phelps. First Bjorling, his voice is as clear as a beautifully tuned bell. Pavarotti, in the three tenor concert was lovely, Caruso,and Bocelli performance of O Holy Night ‘ is simply Gorgeous. And Jonathan Antoine ( pronunciation is Ann-twan) who many have compared Jonathan to the Greatest voices of the past and possibly the greatest voice of this century. Each of these men are my favorites. The Canadian Tenors beautiful harmonies, Homefree,lovely, Hometown just as lovely, but I prefer a more mature voices. Il Divo, I have always thought these men are trying to out sing each other and at times they drown out their voices . Yet each one of these men.. individually have a wonderful voice. There is another comparison of who sang the best of the final notes of ‘ Nessun Dorma ‘ on the same site. Check it out.
