Yes it is scripted. We see the same actors repeatedly in different episodes and everyone waits to speak their lines with the dopey puns after the other actor stops and waits. I love the way they do double takes before a line even comes out. The talent was not paid that much in these MTV shows, I have heard, like 5K an episode with no residuals so they just have a bit of exposure while the episode play around the clock. But it looks like everyone is having fun. MTV really used to be funny and silly, with "Boiling Points," and "Next," etc. Sure they are scripted but "Catfish" and the continuous challenges are a drag.

They almost never do. Sometimes the "parents" and kids don't really seem familiar with each other.
