this one of o'neills top of the range diving wetsuits that is an all in one wetsit with an internal long john top ...overall its 7mm- but the long john is an extra 5mm giving 12mm on your torso. fabulous wetsuit.
@NWguy83 HEY, THATS COOL! IT IS A SUPERB WETSUIT,MY WIFE LOVES HERS, FINDS IT EASY TO PUT ON, VERY FLEXIBLE AND VERY WARM. SEA TEMP IS DROPPING HERE BUT IT STILL PERFORMS BRILL! AS ALTERNATIVE YOU CAN GET AN O'NEILL SECTOR, WITH A VEST WITH ATTACHED HOOD TO BE WORN UNDER IT, THAT WHAT I DO SINCE THEY DO NOT SELL XXL JTYPES IN UK(I AM BIG DUE TO RUGBY, SURFING AND RED WINE AND CHEESE LOL)
@beovp91 hi, thanks for comment. i did the clip as it was what i wanted to know before buying the suit. My wife loves the suit, its easy enough to put on and very warm, with no constant flush thru. i have o'neills next model down, which is a 7mm one piece suit, and i also where a hooded vest under that. woorks well also.
Great demonstration. I have been doing some research on this suit and yours was the first demo that showed the suit and putting the suit on in such great detail. Thanks
hi, i can only tell you comparative weights in a 2mm shortie...my wife who is 10st dives in the j type with a 12l tank, and a relatively low buoyancy bcd (opposed to my Buddy bcd, which is really quite buoyant ) and she used 8kg weight belt, in the Maldives in a 2mm shortie (considerably less neoprene) she wore 4kg! its a great suit, flexible and streamline. we can do hours dive in 9 c no problem.
@NWguy83 Nice one! We went on a christmas dive yesterday at Porthkerris, air temp was 8C , water temp 12C. Viz was only 3-4 meters since we have had an awful lot of storms recently....but was still really enjoyable.
Just picked my suit up today after ordering it on Saturday. Its the 2012 model, which is just a tiny bit different than the one your wife has. Different logo, red interior instead of yellow, maybe one extra piece of velcro on the suit. Paid $370USD instead of the usual $430USD. Fits pretty snug, but I need to loose a little weight.
I am getting this suit soon and when I tried it on, I almost couldn't get it on in the butt/hip area (I have a big butt, I know) when I tried it on in the store. She makes it look so easy, does it just get easier to put on with time?
Did she end up getting her size according to their size chart, or did she have to go one size up? I just wonder if that might make it easier to put on without it being too loose to work properly?
Duncan Scobie Ended up trying on the next size up and it fit perfectly with less of a struggle than the smaller size, plus room for underlay underlayers too, as I plan to wear a Lavacore top underneath for a bit of extra insulation. I dived in the Pacific Northwest, which is frigid, just like the UK.
