@@maureenwilbourne5977 lolo…isn’t it funny… a fry is so personal…if you give a Irish man a tomato out of a tin he’d throw it at you.. tomato must be cut in half and be fried.. in fact .. fry everything 😂
When you first walked into this place it reminded me of a Wetherspoon in central London, The Crosse Keys on Leadenhall, very similar in every way. That breakfast looked humongous Lee I was amazed you waded through all that. Hash browns really not my thing but I do love the American version. Those sausages certainly looked a proper “Grange Hill” butchers sausage. Three eggs and tomatoes wow! It’s a pat on the bottom of the HP bottle for me.
What a great breakfast for £8.95. Looks absolutely delicious. If this was in Oxfordshire, you'd pay £16 for that, and it'd be worth every penny. Terrific value for money and a lovely environment to sit and eat in. Extra kudos for using a proper tomato too. I'd definitely give this a try if I was in Leeds. Triple thumbs up 👍👍👍
Well worth the money. 10/10 from me. I always pat the bottle on the base to start it going, even if it does end up with a big blob splurting out. BTW whenever a sauce bottle nears the end, I put in a few glugs of vinegar and shake it up. Uses up the rest of the sauce and gives it a slight Worcecesestershire sauce kick. Malt vinegar for brown sauce, white vinegar for tomato.
If I understand the loyalty scheme correctly, it's "buy 4, get the 5th one free" and in addition 10% off each time? That strikes me as an outstanding deal... I imagine it succeeds in encouraging loyalty.
Great vlog Lee many thanks but two things one no black pudding and also why to cooks or chefs cut the tomatoes the way you had,l was a breakfast chef on the qe2 mk1 and we were also told to cut through the middle anyway that was a long time ago, thanks again Lee Richard and Tanya from Southampton ❤❤
Looks good. Couple of things don’t like toast on the plate, as a child of the 50s I can confirm you never needed to bash brown sauce bottles on the bum to get the stuff out (am I the only person who remembers Flag sauce from the 50s - like HP but better) but you did need to bash the hell out the Heinz or Chef (remember that ketchup?) bottles to get it out. Heinz beans not as good as Branston and to make it perfect swap the hash browns for yesterdays’s boiled new potatoes sliced and fried then we have perfection.
Very visually appealing vlog, both inside and outside. The re-purposed bank looked egg-cellent. Lots of very large TV screens... are they as enormous as they appear? Great looking breakfast which seemed fairly priced... even better with the version one size down from the Mega. Good product placement with the Heinz ketchup and HP sauce, until you moved them. I don't think I would eat again on the same day with a breakfast that big... and I'm a big bloke.
wow lee you just given me a new breakfast option, we have an oneills close to me, and yea i to was under the same Wetherspoons opinion, but that really looked far from a spoons breakfast.
Hello Lee. Breakfast looked fab. Tasted good, too, no complaints from me. I did miss a £3.50 latte. Have to take what I'm given. Delicious all around 10 time 11.20 am 😊😊
Have a recommendation, The Dip Shop in Sunderland, you can get a daily special like shepherd pie and chips or a bap filled with your choice of meat or all the meats , gravy , pease pudding all for the sum of 3.50 . Honestly its superb .
It looks really good, but I don't consider it to be a full Irish (Ulster) Breakfast as there is no Soda Bread or Potatoe Bread. Lee, you really need to go to Northern Ireland to experience an Ulster Fry-up. If it is possible to go when the weather is still good.😊
Haven't been to Ò Neill's for years, but we ate there when we were in Newcastle-upon-Tyne for a couple of days. The menu was completely different back then (we discovered colcannon, which we loved). The food was great, service excellent and we went back, rather than try a different place for lunch next day
Fantastic as always Lee. Great place, your trademark energy and enthusiasm never disappoints. Venue looks gorgeous. Pat HP from the back. Knowing how much you enjoy your US sayings 'You hit one clear out of the park!' 😁👍
Dump the hash browns for fried bread and add black and white puddings. I'd give it 8.5. Did you see the state of that guy's lager at the start.? Looked like hed been to the mens room and brought it back.!!
Not been in there for years Lee. Used to be called the Observatory. Was a kind of wine bar place for years. The kind of place you went before you stumbled onto the night club. Was in its peak in the early/mid 90s. Imagine being in there with it being packed and a DJ kicking out the tunes We used to love it
I’ve been here before and it’s a really nice place to eat and just have a right nice drink and relax. I’ve had breakfast before but I had my bacon done a bit more then yours lee. When I asked they changed it without any problems at all. Would recommend this place defo
That looks an amazing breakfast and such fantastic value for £8.95, especially with the loyalty card and a free breakfast if you buy 4, defo worth a 10/10. I'm like you, much prefer chopped tinned tomatoes, if I was having that breakfast, the fresh toms would have to cooked well done so really soft. With regards to glass sauce bottles, it's a good shake then pat on the bottom lol
I think that type of hash brown was invented by McDonalds. Hash browns in the states are usually shredded potatoes and onions. That said, the breakfast looked to be a 10.
Flannagan's in Liverpool does a good breakfast. Used to have a late break/early dinner about 11, when working on a job at Albert Dock, walked up to Flannagans, had brekky with two pints of Guiness to get through till 7 pm!!! That one needs white pudding and soda farls!!
To answer the question of the sauce, i just shake it hard.! It usually comes out, i never pat it..Gorgeous breakfast omg i could try and eat that now, but wouldnt manage it all.. yummmmm
Love the get out clause with the brown sauce..... Dropped a clanger by throwing it on from the bottle and ending up with a bucket load on the plate....made amends tho, as if you meant to do it, by shovelling it onto the bacon, saus & egg n toast as if it was totally scripted....all the world`s a stage.
Great value that mate. I had a Full Scottish breakfast the other day that cost £5 more than this with only 1 egg and no shrooms or toms.....now you're thinking I was ripped off but The bacon was so thick it was more like gammon , the Lorne sausage was humongous and there was haggis and a tattie scone , toast was two rounds and not a plate filler as served on a separate plate and it included Scottish tea and fresh orange....sooooo big I actually didn't finish it all. At the end of the day for me it's about quality not quantity so a well deserved 9 from me but even though my Scottish brecky cost me more I'm going to give it a 10.....location and ambience worth that extra point 😁
A very good Irish brekkie. Fresh cooked, quality. Decent size serving at a good price. Eggs a tad undercooked and tinned tomatoes would have preferred. 9/10 from me.
Hitting the bottle of sauce on the neck is the more effective approach to "get things moving". The frustrated diner is essentially trying to create an air pocket at the bottle neck which then displaces the sauce, hence initiating fluid flow. I knew my Fluids Dynamics engineering course would come in handy one day! Also...Qudos to the chef for pre-submarining the toast below the fried eggs as it should be. Thereby forcing each bite of egg to be accompanied by a supporting toast layer.
Nice to see the old' Black Prince', given a refurb and new management. It was a bit of a dump, but always a lovely building. Looked great will go in next time I'm in Leeds.
There used to be an O'Neills in Mansfield in the 90s, Lee, which did nice food, I didn't know they still existed as this is far superior to Wetherspoons. What an absolutely gorgeous building that is too, outside and in, I love these old buildings and it's great that pubs can repurpose them. An excellent breakfast too AND at a very good price. Great to see the beans on the plate where they belong and not in a damn pot. I could have done without the toast on the plate and had tinned tomatoes instead of that awful half one, but maybe Irish don't do tinned tomatoes, I don't know. Excellent nevertheless.
The sausages were perfect, dry cured bacon, eggs good, Quality beans etc.... My highest yet 10 plus from me, you must agree. 😊😊👍👍🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷.. Made my mouth water...
Great value for money, great venue, and great meal! The loyalty card is very fair... and I like that they give you smaller freebies on your way to the breakfast. Those sausages were spot on... could tell that just from looking at them. If I'm to be critical... I'd have preferred tinned tomatoes (or at least the option of tinned tomatoes), and I wouldn't really call it an 'Irish' breakfast, as it's lacking white pudding and soda bread. With that said, it's a solid 9.5/10 from me. That looked absolutely spot on! Well done to the team at O'Neill's! 👍
I had a burger in the Manchester branch which was good. There is a branch of Spoons almost opposite that is always busy but O, Neil's is always empty. Just an idea for some car videos. I guess its too late for you to film the Classic Car show tomorrow 27 August in Stanley Park Blackpool, but there are another two Classic Car shows coming up in Lytham St Annes and Southport. Lytham Green on Sunday 10 September which is always excellent and Victoria Park Southport on 17 September which is also excellent. The cars drive down Lord Street in a procession after the show. I will be going to all the shows as i do every year, so perhaps i will see you there.
omg watching this at 1.13am having a drink after work , fffff starving would eat that now , going to get up and take fry up stuff out of freezer for breaky in the morning :)
This looks fantastic. Much better than weatherspoons and well worth the extra cost. I can't help but moan about spoons lately. I feel the breakfast has gone downhill and I'm also noticing that they are closing a lot of pubs lately. They closed the spoons in Newark last Sunday and it was the only one for miles. I used to live in Mansfield and always thought it was strange that there were two spoons literally next to each other but saying that the prices were slightly different. The widow frost was a tad cheaper than the stag and pheasant but I believe the widow frost has now closed? This pub chain could win a takeover against spoons. I can't wait to try it. Great video and thank you for your awesome work 👍
Excellent value for money breakfast. Minor points, prefer chopped mushrooms and tomatoes and my toast separate. But cannot fault it on price got to be a 9.5 out of 10 or even a 10 as free tea refills. Next time I’m in Leeds will call in.
Superb breakfast those pork & leek sausages looked the business. Will have to check out our local O'Neills it's a bit smallish so not sure if they do brekkies.
