Well it is becoming a tradition... I am doing my best to bring you a new episode at least once every year!
Episode 13 will not dissapoint : I have some great scenery to show now, and a short operation segment at the end of the episode. Enjoy!

Serge, really a terrific tribute and backstory for smith logging. I also appreciate the inspirational words. BTW, following the local and spotting the two empties was a great ending to this episode! Put a smile on my face!

Mike, hearing that makes my day! Thank you my friend. I hope you are modeling to your heart's content too!!

Dear Serge, humbly think you’ve made a beautiful tribute logging scene and truck in honor to Ben! Love the way you told us about the importance of both Don and Ben to your modeling. Awesome job on the entire scene, love the kind of ‘empty’ feel the scene accomplishes, taking into consideration the necessary space for the logging trucks to move around. Beautiful how you’ve managed to add a third track to the barge slip throat. Very promising scene in the making! Looking forward to seeing your next progress and episodes. Cheerio

Thank you Vincent! I designed my layout with what I thought would be plenty of "negative space", but that space fills up quite quickly when doing a scene. Still, there is enough space to put more trees than I care to make!

Robert, I am not a master of much but I really appreciate your support. O scale does require more space, but if you like details well... at least you can see them!

Thanks! I love having viewers just as much as you love seeing the videos. For a long time I felt like I was doing this for nothing, but hearing from viewers is helping me find my way in all this!

Good to see you back Serge. You've really done some fine work since the last episode, and Smith Logging was a nice tribute. So, you know, if you are going to do a video nominally once a year, then who cares how long it is? 🤗❤Got to love it anyway - the only disappointment is when it's over too soon! 🚂Lawrence L.A., CA, USA

That's what she said! lol Sorry I could not resist that one! But seriously, I don't want to put anyone to sleep so keeping it shorter might help. Eventually, the content will be more interesting, and the host will be better. Still need to practice my english, not many opportunities here in Quebec!

@@sergelebel1239 She did? lol I walked right into that one! Personally I find the content - the narration, the layout, and the modeling - entertaining and quite fascinating, especially with the French-Quebec accent! No need to worry about the accent or content. It's all beautiful.

I am like the groundhog... I pop up once a year, see my shadow and get spooked! But the basement is still the best place to be!

Very stunning work! Your updates are always worth the wait. Very touching story about Ben and I'm sure Don is honored to have that scene on your layout. It looks wonderful. You both do very inspirational modeling. I see that you, like myself, have been inspired by Boomer. Trees and ground cover looks great. May I ask how you made the stacked logs at the saw mill? I appreciate the short ops at the end. Maybe in the future you can show trains crossing your bridges. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for these kind words. I am a stong believer of giving credit where credit is due. My modeling would never be anywhere near what it is today had it not been of the influence of Ben, Don, Boomer, Mike Confalone, and many others. I am not re-inventing the wheel... I just take in all those inspirations and apply them to my modeling. About the stacks of wood near the saw mill ; these are car loads that come with MTH flat cars. With a little bit of paint, they can look quite good!

@@sergelebel1239 super! J’ai hâte, j’espère qu’on y verra circuler quelques trains ? Je suis admiratif du travail accompli et du résultat. Le tout dans la simplicité avec une présentation toujours agréable.

Thanks! Unfortunately it's only one scene that looks okay for the moment, 90% of my layout is still plywood but I am working hard at changing that while having fun!

Amazing work Serge, so nice to see a little update & the short ops at the end. May I ask the origins of the loco ? Is it a modified Atlas / MTH model, Red caboose or brass ? Looks fantastic weathered. Looking forward to Episode 14 ! Cheers, Felix Oregon
@sergelebel1239
@sergelebel1239 5 месяцев назад
I think the loco is an old Weaver. It is made of plastic and was very light so I added some weight to it. I installed an ESU Loksound V4 and a Tang Band speaker. It is still a bit noisy as I can hear the gears/drive clicking over the speaker sound...

@@sergelebel1239 Thanks, sure looks good weathered. That was a nice tribute scene and I like how personal you've made certain areas of your railroad. I try to do the same in another way. I have a couple freight cars I've decorated and have used my friends names as company names. Cheers.

Beautiful tribute to a friend. Well done. Where did you get the etched brass done? If you did it, what machine did you use? I’d love to get some 8 rung ladders done in laser cut brass for my Proto 48 cars. Also, who is the manufacturer of the Rock Island combination door boxcar? Thanks for posting
@sergelebel1239
@sergelebel1239 5 месяцев назад
I do my own brass etching in-house. All my equipment is stuff I made in my shop... very simple and easy to set-up and once you have this, you can create anything your heart desires! I wrote a full article on how this is done, along with plans and clear instructions, in the January/February 2020 issue of the O Scale Resource magazine. I believe it is volume 7, no.3 you can download these issues for free on their web site. As for the Rock Island car, I think this is a Weaver model. I bought it on ebay several years ago but it must still be available used if you look hard enough...
