I really don't know anything about snooker, but I what I see when I watch Ronnie O'Sullivan in matches like this is an incredible fluidity -- a kind of seamless union, one shot flows into the next and the next and before you know it he's potted everything and it looks so EASY. Incredible.

Yes, some people actually think about their next shot... not Ronnie, doesn't need to when he's in a flow state. That's why his 5 min 8 sec 147 will never get touched... too much thinking slows things down. Bruce Lee would love Ronnie lol.

Yes, and Foulds too. Just as Hendon must be in the running for worst of them all. He never says ANYTHING but the blindingly obvious, and despite having watched hundreds of snooker matches, still appears to understand nothing about the finer points of the game

Excellent match and video analysis. As a Ronnie fan I was pleased with this result, Trump seemed to have an edge over him in their last few meetings up until this match. The statistics of head to head are informative too.

Both victories Ronnie O'Sullivan had against Judd Trump last season felt expected despite their head to head in recent times. O'Sullivan just seems to have surpassed Trump in all departments.

@@classyconor okay if you was specifically talking about the world championships i agree, trump looked a lot less decisive than ronnie going into the final and seemed drained after beating williams in the semis. However, once trump got back into the game it was closer although Ronnie still had the edge so i agree.

Wow!!!! The 2 best players at their best. I think Ronnie's cue ball control is above and beyond any other player that's ever played the game. Judd is a better single ball Potter but Ronnie's over all game just trumps everyone.

i came to a conclution that it is the positional game that makes some one a better play as ronnie always in a better co.fortable position but other players even jud trump alot of times place them selves to play difficult shots to break build

I could be wrong, but it looks like it's Ronnie's strategy to leave a red on for a long pot a couple of shots after the break. Quite a few games in the recent past, I've seen Ronnie almost set the bait for the opponent to bite on.

I feel like Ronnie sometimes purposely misses shots, or plays them with more reckless abandon than usual, in order to continue the match or make it more competitive. I'm sure this is not actually the case, but it seems to happen fairly often. The example at 16:50 comes to mind where he over hits a normal shot. Commentator, "Worst shot he's played tonight.." ... interesting! Edit - The commentator even mentions something similar, where Ronnie wants to play the game 'properly' ... I've seen it with lesser skilled opponents where Ronnie seems to miss a shot just to let them have a chance. Again, probably not true, he's just so good.

as a tennis player when your opponent is hitting a certain shot you know you dont necessarily have in the locker you tend to try shots you wouldnt otherwise shoot. its a mental part of the game getting caught up in youre opponents play style and not exactly your own.

@@Joe-ff6tk You raising an interesting point for sure. I play disc golf and being a bit older, 41, I don't mind watching younger players and learning from them. Playing with my father versus playing with a group better than me, it shows drastically different results with greater improvements. Absolutely I would take shots/lines that I would never have thought of. It's a good point, and Ronnie is not beneath learning from others.

Trump has the potential to dominate in a few years if he can get that cue ball and safety play like Ronnie because he can play certain individual shots better. He's the one player that could equal O'Sullivan if he's still good enough to win World Titles at 47 like Ronnie
