Still very happy you’ve made this leap over to YT. Once again, such a brilliant style of explanation and also not a hint of arrogance 👌🏻 so watchable

Hi 👋, Simon , great job, about 17/8 years ago I made a King post, trust Roof for a property, so when you were sitting in the dining room, you can see all the beams exposed, I purchased the same electric planer as what you are using, but I have the Mafell chain Mortis machine, with the extra base plate, I made up a jig that could be fitted to it, so I could do the Mortis and Tenoner joint. on end of beams, instead of using a skill saw, Plus I went out and brought a secondhand Wadkin EKA 5 Tenon machine, it wasn’t cheap by the time I rebuilt it and plus put new modern style cutter blocks on it, Leitz , considering I worked by myself, I had a reasonable size workshop ha ha, 8X 35 Mt , I still got most of my machinery and tools, I’m now retired, living in France, originally from the UK, I wish you all success for the future, Phil from the moulin France

Great video. Have you done any structures out of treated spruce? If so can you get the same look? The oak is so expensive!
@simonbowler1
@simonbowler1 Год назад
You can get a similar look, there’s nothing to do you using the same techniques, but unfortunately, it won’t have the same character that Oak does 👍🏻

Hi Simon, if you didn’t have the big saw, how would you tackle that half lap? I have a similar problem but my saw will leave me 40mm short. Thanks all for these videos too.
@simonbowler1

I think you need s bigger saw! Or maybe do it by hand?
@Rich-0816
@Rich-0816 Месяц назад
I think by hand unless I hire one for the day, I only have 2 to do. Thanks for responding, appreciate it.

Excellent video. Another great project. Appreciate it is the first episode but start to finish, including the workshop time, what sort of time would you spend on a project like this? Keep up the great work and videos.👌

Hi Simon I’m in the middle of designing and building my first oak frame structure. I’ve found your videos invaluable as a source of information and very well presented. I’m building a 6m x 11m garage and my son is helping me putting all the details on to sketch up. I’m from the north east and would love to know the supplier you use for your oak.
