Just found your channel and am enjoying your reviews so far! Would you be able to review the combat boots from the French brand Paire & Fils

Getting the right fit with online purchase is always a hit or miss irrespective of any sizing advice.

Really want to see patina updates. That leather is so cool!

Just an FYI, their boots run very big. I followed their sizing advice and ordered a 10.5. When I received them the boots seem to fit ok, but as they broke in after a few days of wear, my feet were sliding around in the boot among other issues, so I’ll have to sell them. Definitely order at least a half size down.

I'm sorry to hear that! When sizing the Field Boot in the Elston last I had the opposite experience. I fit true to size, at least in their hand lasted and hand welted model, I ordered a half size down and it was too small. I had to return that boot and buy the true to size which was spot on. Keep in mind I bought the boot in Carlo Badalassi veg tan(10% max stretch) and not Chrome Excel(30% max stretch and my least liked leather). I think everyone's feet being slightly different, also a preference for socks, gait, even the leather chosen, etc. Might have more to do with it. Arch length, volume, and so many other things affect fit, every company cuts their uppers differently too. For instance out of the Pacific Northwest bootmakers. Frank's, Nick's, and White's all cut their uppers different from one and other on the HNW last. Despite using the same last! This can lead to a substantial fit and sizing difference depending on your particular feet due to both volume and geometry. It's cool you found the right fit at a half size down, I hate buying boots that don't fit. I love the community sharing too. What works for the majority of the population doesn't work for everyone which is okay. I believe the guy from Boot Spy ran into the same thing as you, he half sized down which was spot on for him. The leather was Chrome Excel and he didn't buy the hand lasted/hand welted model. Maybe try the Good Year Welt buy/sell/and trade on reddit or Stitchdown's Discord channel and see what you could find?

What’s you Brannock size through? Teik said they run true to size based on Brannock.
@JRRob3wn
@JRRob3wn Год назад
@@MarcP5267 my Brannock is a 10.5, I wear a 10.5 in most boots, in fact a 10.5 can be a bit smallish for me depending on the brand. Other video reviews have discussed the Oak Street last - specifically how wide and roomy it is compared to most other service boots. My feet were literally sliding around inside these things, they are beautifully made though if you can get the sizing right, go for it. If anyone is interested in buying my 10.5 trench boot in chromexel color 8, worn for two days…let me know!

@JRRob3wn
@JRRob3wn Год назад
@@MarcP5267 I wear normal D width in every shoe or boot I’ve ever owned. I’d classify my feet as pretty normal. Watch the BootSpy review, he shows how wide and roomy these are compared to other boots, unfortunately I didn’t see that review until after I ordered mine.

Dublin leather’s nice with its waxy feel. Beautiful boots really

Thanks for showing those beautiful boots in Natural Horween Dublin! I truly appreciate the review! I have the Parkhurst in Natural Dublin and despite not caring for CXl really found it to be an amazing leather! Smith's Leather Balm has been an excellent match for all the waxes I have found when it does finally need conditioning. I will look forward to seeing how yours look, I love the follow up reviews. For context I own the Field Boot in Badalassi Nemesi and have been pleased with it. Quality control and clicking has been impeccable! A bit stumped on the care for it however. I wasn't sure whether it is more of a spit shine and polish leather or more like English Bridle? Very little info is out there for the care of certain leathers, I guess I will figure it out when the time comes. Brushing has done the trick so far.

I've watched your Parkhurst and this video to compare. But I find it interesting that Parkhurst's Natural Dublin has matte finish whereas Oak Street has shine to the same leather. Is that correct? Are they truly the same leather and yet, they're different?
@Bootlosophy
@Bootlosophy 6 месяцев назад
They’re the same but the boot maker finishes them differently. OSB throws on a wax but Andrew tends to send his boots “naked”.

You’re a very charming guy. I bet you could sell snow to an Eskimo, as they say. Love these boots. I wonder if the hand-lasting pleats might flatten with wear.

How do you think these compare to your Grant Stone boots in Tan Essex?
@Bootlosophy

The nattie dub here is unlined and more supple. The Essex is lined so harder to compare but you can see they are related leathers

Is the welt a bit wonky on the outside of the right boot. I love a split reverse welt - looks super cool in my opinion - but it looks like something is not right along the side near the break area. Are my eyes playing tricks on me? Nice boots, Teik.

Yep. My Cap Toe Trench Boots have some serious QC issues. In this video, you can see the welt is totally screwed up on the outside of the right boot. Very disappointing.

I heard that Oak Street uses a fiber board foot bed and foam. Anyone know if that’s true?
@Vultain
@Vultain Год назад
I've never seen them cut open. When I took photos of the inside of mine the footbed seems to be veg tan and to my knowledge the footbed is cork. If you call their customer service they are pretty transparent. I found that their captoe is a false one. I own their Field Boot for reference.
@jaredjantzi5915
@jaredjantzi5915 Год назад
Apparently, it's a removable veg tan insole on fiberboard. The cavity in from the welt is filled with cork, but if you watch tear down videos, they have foam instead of cork. Although some people say they found cork when they did reconstructions. So who really knows.
@JRRob3wn
@JRRob3wn Год назад
The foot bed in mine is a very solid slab of leather, what’s under that I have no idea.

@@jaredjantzi5915 I think it depends on when you purchased them and whether you got a limited edition or not. From what I understand the limited editions are somewhat different. I'll let you know when I have them resoled eventually.
