@@BlacksRuinEverything That small contingent of A's fans have more passion than 49er fans who are ridiculed for being wannabe gangsters by every other fan base in the league.
Lots of respect for As fans. Ownership group of that franchise has been an embarrassment for the MLB for as long as I can remember but their fans have always been one of the more knowledgeable and likable fan bases in the league.
@@DizzyskylineIts a easy narrative to go by as an Oakland resident. The Warriors simply went back to SF, without any warning. The Raiders wanted more public money (which the City of Oakland is still on the hook for, for Mount Davis). The A’s also kind of screwed over the Raiders by renewing their deal behind the Raiders back while the Raiders wanted to build a new stadium. The Raiders at the same time wanted taxpayers money, The A’s, well John Fisher is a cheap owner. He is penny pinching, and wants to get as much public money to fund his stadium. He is so cheap that he did not provide meals to his minor league team beyond a single sandwich that had a slice of cheese and ham. John Fisher is a disgrace. I hope he fails on his Vegas quest. He is ripping the heart out of Oakland with this
No pro ball player wants to play/live in Oakland. No fans are traveling to Oakland to visit and watch games. Why not worry about cleaning up the city and reducing crime before concerted efforts to keep a baseball team? The condition of the city and stadium is 100% why they're leaving
Finally our A”s send a real message to the owner! It’s simple you don’t like spending the money on the roster ! Then get your money by selling the A”s ! Once sold it will be a new ERA ! Sell outs will happen the next day !
Any MLB team makes far more money from MLB membership, tee-vee licensing, merchandising, and advertising than it does from selling tickets. Full stadiums are a plus for publicity, but underattendance is not that big a problem. In other words -- local ticketbuyers are expendable. Team owners do not have to care much about them or their "feelings".
Who would keep a team in Oakland. Nobody. The As ownership has never cared about the city or the team. They have always given as little financial support as possible. The crowds for years have been near the bottom in the league. Las Vegas has approved hundreds of millions of dollars for a new stadium. The team will be worth hundreds of millions more overnight after moving. They are gone.
Why would crowds show up to support an owner who purposely sells and tanks to plummet attendance and revenue just to not have to pay for a new stadium. Not to mention tickets prices still still rose up. The colosseum when the As were a competitive team was one of the most electric places in all of American sports. The team really means something to the people. You’re being a money pawn who is only viewing the situation out of the eyes of the rich owners, not the overwhelming majority of people.
@@nigward3966maybe the peasants can create a better environment for the team. Let's start with policies that help criminals steal up to $1000. Or how certain demographics just simply don't get charged due to "racism"
@@Quicks1lvr You’ve already exposed yourself as bias and made the argument about demographic politics when it wasn’t even about that. A sad sight to see, grow up please.
Imagine if this many people showed up and cared about political c0rruption and not a sports game. I hope they move to Vegas just because of that alone. The Bay Area is a clown show and doesnt deserve any sports teams.
Love it!!! Let's go Oakland! Only reason I tuned out of this team was how they treated players and never committed to winning for almost 10 years. stAy. In. OAKLAND
San Diego resident here to lend whatever support I can to the Oakland A's fans. Much respect to you real fans. I know it doesnt mean much but I want you to know that I see you and I support you.
Vegas resident here, we support the A's staying in Oakland. We are noticing how the current owner is treating Oakland, and eventually could pull the same shenanigans here in Vegas.
The issue is the owner stands to make MORE money selling the team post move than pre move. Plus the under the table kickbacks from casino executives in Vegas who stand to benefit. There’s no hope because cash is king, scum will be scum regardless of moral obligation.
still funny they could only get 28k people when dodger stadium or giants stadium brings in 30k+ on a random wednesday even without an event to promote it… if anything they showed the dying fan base in person 😂 cant wait for them to be in vegas!!
Don’t blame the owner , blame Oakland that has had them 60 years to maintain their city infrastructure instead of not taking care of their city! It’s more then just a ball park it’s your government failing You
Where are these fans everyday? Even with this event they still didn't sell out....I understand people work...but where are they on the weekends?¿???? ... sorry..too little too late
Less than 30,000 attendance and upper deck almost entirely empty, they couldn't even come close to selling out the stadium for the one hyped up big game.
Vegas getting funding passed quickly. City of Oakland off the hook while everyone points the finger at Fisher. He sucks, don’t get me wrong, but he’s only part of the problem.
Cali cities loosing business is going to keep happening. When people chose to elect different politicians to Hing's will change. Till then businesses will keep leaving ....
The throwing of bottles at the end of the game was not in the best taste, but overall it was a fun experience and I'm glad I was apart of it! Sell the team!!!
I love how the reporter point out that the fans were wearing jersey of players who were no longer on the A’s because Gray is on Minnesota and Chapman is on Toronto
There's a reason Vegas is getting both professional teams from Oakland. The city of Oakland is trash and so is the stadium there. Vegas is where it's at. A first class city that can support the team. Too bad these fans in Oakland aren't as passionate about the team leaving as they should be about cleaning up the city. Living in Vegas. I welcomed the Raiders and the same with the A's. No coincidence, both professional teams are LEAVING Oakland. Sorry but true.
27K? That is your reverse boycott attendance, Oakland? It is a 40k+ stadium. It won't even fill that 9 acre, 30k stadium on the Vegas strip with your paltry 27k reverse boycott attendance. Sigh. This is why they are leaving, this boycott failed.
Hope the new stadium and surrounding area is better than here in the dumping state. Come on democrats, lets turn the old stadium into a shelter for the homeless? Then you can feel better about forcing business away
This goes far beyond baseball. The state and local governments are destroying quality of life to the point where almost everyone wants to leave. Those who can are doing so. Sad for the fans, but they may find themselves happier if they move to Vegas along with the team ... if they can.
The owner is a cheapskate who surfs off the revenue sharing from actual teams in the league. It’s a AAA roster, no investment has been made in the fan experience and they’ve witnessed several cores blown up purely to put as cheap a product on the field as possible. I don’t think anyone in their right mind would pay a billionaire for that product.
It’s both the As fans fault and the owners. The issue with As fans is when their team is bad they don’t show up. And it’s the owners fault for making the team so bad. Like in hockey As an islanders fan even in our worst seasons we still pack the place. I don’t understand how the As fans blame the owners entirely. And I don’t get how anyone thinks it’s just their fault as well, it’s both. A good fan base packs the stadium even to see them lose.
The People of Oakland don't want this team. They don't care. The A's had "dollar nights" and nobody came. They barely sold half the seats tonight. If Oakland really wants this team, or any sports team, there would be funding for a new ballpark. Libby Schaaf lost The Raiders, The Warriors, and The A's. 8 years in office, and she blew them all off. These clowns want to do something meaningful? Raise money and buy the team. Go ahead. Get a few billion dollars together, and make John Fisher an offer he can't refuse.
The ownership has killed the fan base. Never any franchise players. A fire sale every five years. Higher ticket prices than teams with more expensive rosters and new stadiums. You can't put this on the fans. This is all on the ownership, the Giants, and the Oakland government. I don't understand your animosity towards fans that want to keep their team. Kinda sound like you're menstruating or something.
@@father7713 When you have no public funding (I don't agree that sports teams should receive public funds, but that's unfortunately the status quo), no TV revenue, no ticket sales, and your current stadium is a dump just like the surrounding area, what's the draw to stay?
@Baby Bison Bear with me for a second okay? Let’s say I own a restaurant. For years I use the cheapest possible ingredients. I cook them poorly. I don’t take care of my customers. I let the food spoil out on the counters etc. and let’s go ahead and say that every once in a while I make a good meal. And someone comes back hoping to get that same meal. But no, I actually got rid of everything that makes that meal because the ingredients were too expensive. Naturally, customers are going to be frustrated. In fact we can say it’s reasonable that I go out of business because I run this restaurant so poorly. So do we blame the customers for not eating at my restaurant? Or do we blame ME who ran it into the ground? Well in this scenario lucky for John Fisher, he gets a cut of all the other restaurant’s profits. And instead of being run out of business, he gets a big wheelbarrow of tax benefits and money from Nevada. It is 100% on John Fisher. He refused to care about the A’s and do anything more than the minimum while collecting MLB welfare checks, and when fans stayed home, they were blamed. Fuck John Fisher.
@@RyanGiroux22 I think you're missing the most obvious and glaring reason. Oakland is a dump. The Warriors and Raiders left for a reason. Why would an owner stay in one of the worst cities in America? Especially without any sort of public funding to do so? The Chicago Bears are doing the same. High crime and woke politics aren't good for business. I highly doubt the ball players were lining up to sign long-term contracts to stay in Oakland. Nobody wants to pay Oakland prices, with California taxes, for that low quality of life and raise a family in that environment. Oakland would have to over-pay for top talent to keep them.
Teams are businesses. They exist to make money, which is a good thing in the free market. What is wrong is ticketbuyers ignoring this fact. If tomorrow the Athletics got an even better deal in Acapulco, then they would move to Acapulco. If you ticketbuyers want to keep the Athletics in Oakland, then take just half the energy that you put into this stupid and futile campaign and make Oakland a place that people want to visit, instead of a place that even the locals want to leave.
I don’t really think MLB franchises are the best representation of neo-liberal economics or the free market. These cellar dweller ownership groups both leech off of bigger teams via revenue sharing and quite often leech on the tax payers via stadium subsidies paved via political contributions and lobbying. These public “investments” rarely are necessary nor worth their cost in terms positive economic externalities. There are a few groups who have self funded new stadiums but it’s still a rarity.
