The old Oakland Raiders, for me the best teams ever!
@patsheppard2616

I can remember the weekend games during the 1970’s. Football was exciting and dangerous for the players. I liked the Raiders and my mom liked the Pittsburgh Steelers. They weren’t as rough as the Raiders but close. Todays football seems so tame. I can’t say that they have players who are memorable characters. I watch a lot of the old games. It’s so good to see the greats play again.

As D2 WR in Nor Ca , big fan . My college teammate was 5th round , thought to replace Biletnikoff. Never started , Fred retired , but got a SB ring and NFL for few years. Another teammate was signed as Free Agent ; Wr , told me Willie Brown bullied him as the DB coach . UC Davis has #18 Keelan Doss WR on practice squad now

I was a Steelers fan in the 70's, but I also loved the Raiders. Man I loved to watch the AFC West games on Sunday afternoon. The Raiders vs the Orange Crush or Air Coryell. Man, I used to love the NFL..........not so much anymore
@johnmongani5223

yep totally agree. Raiders Steelers rivalry was the best even though they only played once a year in big meaningful playoff games. So many HOF players in those games made them great. NFL is so corrupt now, taking my Raiders away again. I'm done with these A holes......just watch the old videos of when the NFL was great.

How could you like both the Steelers and Raiders lol? It's like being a fan of both the Yankees and Red Sox. But I agree. The NFL does REALLY suck now. Big $$$ and terrible officiating(fixed) have just totally ruined it

I once seen an episode of Cocaine Cowboys on the Discovery Channel. The two guys transporting cocaine from South America into the States said the Oakland Raiders at this time were their biggest and best customer, lol. Said it must of been good shit cause they did win a Superbowl!
@johnmongani5223
@johnmongani5223 4 года назад
I have that Cocaine Cowboy video and they did say the Raiders of the 70's were users but also said the Pittsburgh Steeler's entire offensive line was at their house the night before the Super Bowl in Miami that they won.

Otis Sistrunk, from the University Of Mars (Marines, IIRC)... This is back when most players were NOT shaving their heads down to bare skin 😂, just from his football cards, the pics of Otis’ bald head and his “alma mater” of “MARS” 😆, my imagination went crazy, and I was like, “this guy is an ORIGINAL”...

Back when I was growing up the Raider Mystique was a real thing. The Raiders were so magical that without NFL Films you would never believe it. There will never again be another like team like Al Davis's Oakland Raiders. They dominated and thrilled for 3 decades. I get goose bumps thinking about it. You never wanted to play this team after the Sun went down and the lights came on ... That's when Silver & Black was most dangerous.

I think you damn well know what he thinks - same thing all of us Raider fans think. A stadium full of Chief fans? Losing 3-0 to a team without a qb? And I'm a friggin current PSL holder (section 319). McDaniels as the coach? Puke Puke and more Puke. I wish they were still in Oakland at least in Oakland we protected the home turf and you would never see this kind of horsesh1t with 80 or 90% opposing fans.

I think part of the oroblem today is that its becomming to much of a business. The lure of big money and free agency has taken something from the game. Players were tough years ago, ronnie lott and jack lambert, mike webster. They are still tough but more likely to get injured.

I'll add to that when the Raiders moved to LA was when they started sliding downhill. The lone SB win while being LA Raiders was on the carryover from their Oakland era. I contended that the players got _Hollywoodized_ from the LA glitz; leading to off-field distractions; and eventually blended into a run-of-the-mill NFL team. The aspects of the players salaries becoming HUGE, along with the on-going trades and free-agencies of players, it made the NFL franchises more of having a field of contract employees, as players, instead of being a football *team.*
