Incredible how laid back this version is, its a bit of a toe tapper whereas the album version makes you want to burn your house down

there's something amazing about this. it's like Oasis got the 1974 studio Aerosmith treatment. sure the album version is way better, but its fascinating to hear it in this context.

If they released this version of the album, they would not be where they are today. Dont get me wrong, this is a good version, but not a chance as good as the official release.

We are very lucky to hear what edits and rerecordings do to tracks we like/love. Helps future creators and producers. These guys worked hard to make a great song. That is fundamental. Make the effort and you could create something new and meaningful. Go for it ❤

This doesn't have the energy of the release version of biod, there's a reason it was rejected, would be interesting to hear what the rest of the original take of definitely maybe sounded like tho.

it's worth remembering that "Bring It On Down" was supposed to be the DEBUT single for Oasis, by all early accounts. I am sure after McGee heard this version of it, he was sure this was NOT it. This version of Bring It On Down sounds like overproduced late 1980s rock and it is devoid of any energy at all. No wonder the Monmow sessions were abandeoned!

I'm fairly confident though Owen Morris said the only problem with this was that Liam's vocals were a little week so I think the album version has different vocals.

dont get me wrong this is nowhere near as good as the version on def maybe but they cited scrapping these sessions cause they didnt sound like the band did live but if you listen to the live session version(hit the north) they did late 93 around the time of mono valley , where liam says "good evening great Britain , hello" its got a very similar feel and perhaps the guitars are little more atmospheric and not so clean but its not hugely different .. i think if owen morris was brought in earlier to mix the mono valley sessions, the results wouldn't of sounded hugely different .. it was his mixes that really gave the songs that hypnotic , atmospheric sound , if you really listen they sounded quite dry and clean in some of the 94 shows they did, where noels guitar was very dry and flat , at some point he started using more reverb and delay and made them sound bigger which is basically what owen morris did , he added hall reverbs and delays to noels guitars , the drums and liams vocals to get that sound

Slightly scoped mids, low gain, high volume. The distortion does not come from the gain part of the amplifier, but from the power part. This type of distortion was typical of the 60s and early 70s. Marshall amps also had feedback loops which re-amplifies part of the single leaving the power amp. So the guitar will create a lot of feedback effects will still sounding clean.

I've just gone back and listened to the album version. I'll be honest and say that I always found 'Bring it on Down' to be the weakest track on 'Definitely Maybe' because, to me, it sounded like too much going on with the guitars fighting with the vocals for space. The Monnow Valley version really strips it bare and you can actually hear all elements of the song, including, dare I say it, the drums. The drums really drive the tune, and It has a Stooges 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' feel to it'.

@@DJ-ov2it Haha, no, I posted it on James Hargreaves' channel, so you might have read it on there? His most recent video is about the infighting between Tony McCarroll and Noel Gallagher and it was something he mentioned in that video that brought me to this video.
