“Oasis was like a Ferrari, cool to look at, fast as fuck. And every once in a while it’d go to fast and spin out of control” Never get a band like em. Even their demos sound massive👍🏻❤️🎸🤘🏻🔊🔊🎤
Before he wrecked it completely you mean? Can't imagine him doing vocal exercises..... Let's be honest you are codding yourself if you think Liam could ever sing. It was always a snarl, out of tune shout at best. George Harrison agreed with me!
This is definitely a demo version. People get confused because their demos were usually quite similar to the finished track. Like, they sound seriously similar. You can tell from Noel's vocals that it wasn't a proper recording. That's the giveaway. Very rough, and recorded on an 8 track, rather than a full studio
I can totally tell it's different. I do wonder why bands have to rerecord the "demo" if it sounds this good. Now days I'll just make sure the mix is right, master it and release the fucker.
I can almost guarantee you this version is the take used for the final master. It's obviously mixed very differently and is much more stripped down, also it's at standard tuning (the final master is slightly sharp if you try and play along in standard tuning, this would've been done during mixing). They would've just layered more guitars over it in the studio, to fatten the sound up, added tambourines, brought the bass up in the mix, panned the drums properly etc. The real magic would've been done by Owen Morris though, if not for his "remix" of the album it would've sounded far less huge and quite possibly have been much less successful!
@@doves9204 totally agree mate, and yeah man I've heard it too many times to not be certain lol. This is the one. That little intro riff Noel plays can also still be heard on the final mix if you listen close enough!
The guitar outro on this from 06:18 - 06:47 is just mega. It's a shame that it's basically cut from the end of album version. You can barely hear it in the fade out.
@Hugo Harris almost got deaf after "rock´n roll star" started next lmaoo but yeah, in the album version they sped up the track so it sounds kind of different, but still, along with this demo version I finally got the tabs right for this outro
owen morris cranked up all of their instruments in the mix and that's why original version is a bit noisy and hazy also very powerful he was trying to get their live sound on the album it's highly compressed as fuck
jiwon kim also on the album the scale on songs like live forever and slide away is a bit higher. also later in What's the story morning glory Morning Glory and Some might say have the same effect
youre right i never knew he did it to songs on morning glory aswell but you can defo hear it on morning glory. sounds like he did it on rockin chair aswell
I love that these old demos are on RU-vid. The songs are always much slower in the demos. It’s interesting to hear the demo versions vs finished songs.
The only vocals they kept from this session was from this song, as Liam couldn't do better (it's awesome). They recorded all the instruments again and re-mixed, but kept those vocals.
while I get the reason you guys are saying this version is better... we say that because we're fans. I too understand why they said the recordings for the album didn't sound like the band live - it's missing that raw feeling and characteristic wall of guitars... they wouldn't have been as succesful otherwise
Slide away and give it all you've got My today fell in from the top I dream of you and all the things you say I wonder where you are now? Hold me down all the world's asleep I need you now you've knocked me off my feet I dream of you and we talk of growing old But you said please don't Slide in baby together we'll fly I've tried praying but I don't know what you're saying to me Now that you're mine We'll find a way Of chasing the sun Let me be the one who shines with you In the morning we don't know what to do Two of a kind We'll find a way To do what we've done Let me be the one who shines with you And we can slide away Slide away Slide away Away Slide away, and give it all you've got My today, fell in from the top I dream of you and all the things you say I wonder where you are now? Slide in baby together we'll fly I've tried praying and I know just what you're saying to me Now that you're mine We'll find a way Of chasing the sun Let me be the one who shines with you In the morning we don't know what to do We're two of a kind We'll find a way To do what we've done Oh, let me be the one who shines with you And we can slide away Slide away Slide away
@@nt8932 they weren't all. Listen to the demo of Up in the Sky, Liam's voice is way calmer on the demo. Also, on the demos Noel sang more backing vocals then he does on DM.
Between this and Supersonic defo my 2 faves altho this is the song id heard 1000s of times and didnt give it too much thought but sent it to my Wife the 1st night she told me she loved me , Looking back i shoulda Slid away 😂😂😂
These must be the Dave Bachelor tapes. He was a contact of Noel's from his Inspirals days who had been producing since the 70s. Bonehead described his recordings of the band as thin, weak and too clean. Nothing matched up to how Oasis sounded live until Owen Morris did his Bank Holiday weekend wall of sound mix.
This is 100% the take used for the final master, it's in standard tuning so sounds different, Owen Morris would've just sped the tape up during mixing (which is why the final version is slightly sharp), no doubt in my mind whatsoever that this is THE final vocal take, amongst some of the layered guitars and other bits.
Why did they dump this version? I always thought the DM version sounded a bit rough. I know that's what they were going for and didn't want it to be too polished, but I find this version a happy medium between the two.
