jeez louise, where to start. first off, it's an ETHICS code, not ETHNIC. a quick google search will tell you what ethics are because you're getting them mixed up with one's culture and are obvious illiterate (either that or you're making a racial pun about our president, and if that's the case, you need to grow up). second off, a quote from a statement made on this matter "...there is a prohibition in the Members Handbook and in the Ethics Manual on the use of official resources for the promotion or benefit of any private charitable cause" AKA making a video in support of the ice bucket challenge for the ALS foundation. hence why obama didn't even announce he made the donation; the foundation did, which bypasses this rule. this applies to any private charitable organization, of which the ALS foundation is one of them. third off, the whole point of the challenge was to get people to donate. most people just dumped ice water buckets on their head (which is cool and all!) but the entire underlying point was to spur on more donations to the foundation. by donating without doing the challenge, obama is doing the foundation/sufferers of ALS much more of a service and is being much less of a "debbie downer" as people that just spread awareness by dumping ice water on their head and were too cheap to donate. i can tell by your general tone that you're probably a senior citizen/pretending to be one who is distrustful in the internet but hey, there's a reason why people in the younger generation are obviously more learned and intelligent then you... and the internet is certainly one of those reasons. ;)
