Obeah otherwise known as witchcraft or voodoo is the practice of malignant magic,spell casting and healing traditions used to either ward off evil or bring harm to someone else.
This was originated in the continent of Africa.
Over the years, obeah has been demonized and is portrayed as curses,blood sacrifices etc....
The jamaican government, like other Caribbean government, acted quickly to ensure that obeah remained a crime. The 1833 Vagrancy Act prohibited obeah. Although obeah is a criminal offence in jamaica it is still practiced.
