De Wit in Schijndel (70.000m2) in the south of the Netherlands is almost as big as Obelink (72.500m2). Both the biggest two campingshops in Europe. Unfortunately both no international shipping. If you are coming from the boat at Hoek van Holland travelling south in Europe this is better on route😀
Nice one! We’re off for a weeks break tomorrow. From Paderborn to the Black Forest area. We’ve purchased a few things from Obelink online. Now I’ve seen your episode this has given me inspiration to actually visit the shop. It’s always nice to chat face to face with vendors. Thanks for sharing.
That was unexpected, that you beat us there. We live less than an hour from this shop and still haven't been. I knew it was big, but didn't quite realise how big.
Hi Johannes, I am not exaggerating but you would need about 2 hours to look at everything and then add on some time for coffee and cake so plan on a complete morning or afternoon. Cheers. Peter
Pedantry Alert!! Winterswijk is actually in the province of Gelderland, not the province of Holland which is on the coast in the west of the Netherlands. This was sniffley pointed out to me by a Dutch colleague many years ago. I suppose it's a bit like calling the UK, 'England'.
I have asked a number of Dutch people about this and although you are perfectly correct the Dutch do not seem to mind. I even had a chat to someone at the Royal Dutch Embassy in London and they were quite relaxed about it. Cheers. Peter
Hi David, It would appear that BREXIT has got in the way of trading with the UK but from my experience with my Parf kit it is possible to overcome all of that by choosing the right delivery partner. Cheers. Peter
It is indeed massive and well supplied, but I'd have to honestly say, our region has much more to offer than Obelink, and I dearly hope you've had more time to explore it than the Obelink. Greetings from the Achterhoek!
@@NewBritWorkshop good question, as a dog owner I wouldn't know, most camp sites allow it. Might be slightly different with 'natuurkampeertereinen', those are nature oriented camping sites. Generally the search query is the other way round, and people look for dogs allowed, but the dutch words are "honden niet toegestaan". Might help your search for next time
Hi Derek, Just a couple of very nice chairs and a small table. There was too little choice and too high prices here in the UK. We walked to the store from the nearby camp site and filled a large trolley with the kit that we bought. The store staff were perfectly happy to keep the purchases safe so that we could return the following day, with our motorhome, to collect the kit. They are very used to doing this apparently. Cheers. Peter
