Love the PCM 80. So underrated and is a huge multiFX box with lots of amazing sounding algorithms. We have the 480L here but the PCM80 is always in use.
For a moment, I was thrown. Then, I checked the date of this upload and figured out you were using the OB-X8 as the MIDI controller for the Xpander. The Xpander is one of the models I’ve imagined owning since I was 20 in 2000, it and its predecessor, the OB-8. There was always something about a vintage classic analog performance synthesizer with a virtual patch matrix that was extra appealing for someone that was always sideswiped by looking at the front panel of any traditional modular model.
Yes, the Xpander is a great sounding synth. I can’t tell if the OB-X8 or Xpander sounds “better”, just a bit different. Booth are organic and full of life.
Reflecting on the videos you have uploaded of the X8 generating similar ambient tones to this one,@@analogprophet, I would say they complement each other. If you had an OB-Xk, I would suggest you hook that up to the module and play it and the X8 separately during another video.
Yes, @@analogprophet. I think you’ve already created the patches on the X8, judging from the videos I’ve seen. Matt Johnson from Jamiroquai did something like that back in November 2022. The only difference is that his vintage model was the OBXa.
the Matrix 1000 is a highly underestimated (and still reasonably affordable) vintage synth. I got one many many years ago, and was also lucky enough to get the access controller for it. I also have an Xpander here, but still I would never sell my Matrix 1000. Reliable as fuck, which is a thing I can't say about my Xpander. :D
As-sköna pads! Kan man köpa? :) Tycker det är ont om moderna/bra patch collections för Xpandern, och ibland ids man ju faktiskt inte programmera själv :D
