You really can't be mad at Obi Wan for not revealing the complicated truth to Luke early on, when his father Vader played a huge part in killing the Jedi off, also killing Luke's mother Padme, the younglings, etc. If Obi Wan never hid Luke and Leia away from the Empire, there wouldn't be a SW saga. After Anakin turns evil, Obi Wan basically becomes the godfather of the Skywalker twins, watching over them from a distance. That shows that he truly cared about Anakin all along, who was like his younger brother all that time.

Luke reminds me of Padme. Although only movies and make believe, I am sure Padme was proud of Luke for also seeing and knowing there was still good in him.

The older you get the more you realize how flawed the jedi's way of thinking is. Like here obi wan was guilt tripping luke into thinking the only choice he had was to kill his own father or everyone else would die. But Luke found another way. Qui gon will always be the wisest jedi in my eyes. He was one of the few that understood true balance in the force was to have both light and dark side inside yourself but not to be consumed by one or the other. He saw the arrogance of the counsel and would not put himself there.

Okay we already know the awkwardness of Luke finding out Lea was his sister, AFTER the whole kiss stuff. But what if they went further and did stuff?? Obiwan would have some serious explaining to do then. Obiwan took a huge risk not telling Luke the truth. Stuff could've happened man. Weird, awkward stuff.

It's crazy how the episode III & the Kenobi series gives even more weight to Kenobi's lines and his point of view in the trilogy. "Bury your feelings deep, they give you power but they could be used to serve the emperor". Obi-wan knows this very well because he witnessed this exact thing happen to Anakin. Vader murdering his father, Obi-wan heard from Vader himself that he killed him. All Obi-wan does at that point is pity him because he knows whatever is left of Anakin is gone. If Obi-wan were to kill him, he would only turn to the dark side.

Luke is the Ultimate Jedi. He had hard times and times of strife. But he stayed on the path of light. He overcame his anger and hate, but kept his attachment to people. The jedi council belived that attachment was a path to the sith. They belived no sith could be turned back to the light. Anakins attachments led him to the darkside yet his attacment to his son brought him back. Balance was brought back to the force in a way no jedi could have foresaw. Lukes beleif in the good in his father.

I never understood Yoda and Obi-Wan's apparent obsession with training Luke with the idea of killing Darth Vader. The one they needed to kill was Darth Sidious, and Luke couldn't beat Sidious because he wasn't experienced enough to defend against Force lightning. What they needed all along was what Luke finally resolved to do--find a way to turn Vader back to the light side, because as Anakin, he was strong enough to kill Sidious. If Luke had killed Vader and let Sidious live, he'd just find a new apprentice. He'd already had three.

I actually have the utmost admiration for Obi Wan. He had to keep things secret if there was ever to be any hope of restoring peace to the galaxy and defeating the empire. Also, I liked the music and editing in this video. Very cool.

This conversation was actually much longer then shown. After Obi-Wan said that many truths depend on points of view, he said,"I don't blame you for being angry. If I was wrong with what I did, it wouldn't be the first time. You see what happened to your father was my fault." After Luke says, "There is still good in him," Ben says, "I also thought that your father could be turned back to the good side. It couldn't be done. He's more machine now than man. Twisted and evil." After Ben says, "You can not escape your destiny," Luke says, "I tried to stop him once. I couldn't do it." Ben tells him that the reason Luke couldn't stop Vader before was because he was so impatient to go off and face him. Ben says that if he had stayed here with Yoda and completed the training, he would've been prepared to face Vader. Luke, in his defense, says, "But I had to help my friends." Ben then says, "And did you help them? It was THEY who had to save YOU. You accomplished very little by rushing back, prematurely, I fear." Luke says with sadness that he did find out Darth Vader was his father. Ben tells Luke that he has been able to pass the line that his father was unable to pass and become calm and patient. THEN, Ben says, "You must face Darth Vader, again." After Ben says that Luke's feelings do him credit but could be made to serve the emperor, there was more that was said. Ben explains to Luke, "When your father left, he didn't know your mother was pregnant. Your mother and I knew he would find out eventually. We wanted to keep both of you safe as possible for as long as possible. So I took you to live with Owen on Tatooine...and your mother took Leia to live as the daughter of Senator Organa on Alderaan." Luke says, "You can't let her get involved now, Ben. Vader will destroy her." Ben says, "She hasn't been trained in the ways of the Jedi the way you have, Luke...but the force is strong with her. As it is with everyone in your family. There's no avoiding this battle. You must face and destroy Vader!" Scene then ends. In the book, Ben tells Luke that when Anakin turned to the dark side, the 2 of them fought each other and Anakin fell into a molten pit. Ben says that when Anakin clawed his way out of the pit, he was forever changed and scarred. His anger had been burned into him. Ben says that all these years, Vader has been kept alive by machinary and his own evil desires.

It's a shame that the prequels cause us to develop a love for padme but she's hardly mentioned in the classics except when Luke asks leia about her... I thought when Luke told obiwan here that there is still good in him, would be a good time to say "your mother thought so. Those were her last words." To add a little something about her....

If you watched the 6th episode of Kenobi it will make all sense now

That's the beauty of the prequels - they provide the necessary clips to make great flashback-included versions of OG Trilogy scenes.

I love how Luke had a great character development, he sounded more mature and serious in ROTJ compared to his rookie days in ANH.

I am loving all the flashback videos , it's show how genius lucas was with his stories, they fit in perfectly.

I hope if there is an Obi wan solo movie. That its shows another interaction with him and Vader. Showing why Obi wan had given up on trying to bring Anakin back, even refusing to call him by that.

Am I the only one that absolutely loves the piano music? If you love the original score so much go watch the original movie and stop crying.

I love how Lucas describes the god by using the term "The Force"... so wise and relateable. Amazing how many profound lessons Lucas masterfully weaves in between lines of what is essentially a kids movie. So many lessons that have served me so well in adult hood. Four or five that can be taken from this small clip alone.

It's easier to believe and accept a beautiful lie than the ugly truth.

Kenobi episode 6 shows why kenobi said that way becoze Anakin himself told him he kill himself and became Darth Vader

Turns out Luke is a better Jedi than Obi Wan was. Where Obi Wan saw no hope, Luke saw an ember of good in Vader and chose to attempt the impossible. Not kill his father for "the greater good" Luke understood the Jedi way better than Ben did even at his young age.

But Obi-Wan could`ve told him that Anakin also killed his own wife,Padme.

The crazy thing is that Anakin is still the chosen one he killed Darth Sidious and restored balance. And after he did that he died so in actuality he still was the chosen one.

How is it not realistic? He was young and in love.. men will do stupid shit to impress a woman. It makes perfect sense to me. He saw visions of his mother dying, she passed away. He saw visions of his love dying, he wouldn't let that happen... that with Jedi laws could totally explain him turning to the darkside however it would NOT explain any kind of hatred for Jedi... in episode 3(which I love) he says 'in my point of view the Jedi are evil) the movie doesn't every explain why Jed think that. Not once. Look a lot of people hate episodes 1-3 . That okay, if you hate them then stop watching. There is absolutely No reason to ruin it for other people who do enjoy the movies. And vice versa. There really isn't much point of arguing unless you're a Hollywood director then by all means make a bid for making it the way YOU want. That's my opinion. Good video by the way. Can be somewhat emotional if you appreciate the whole story. Although the music is a bit distracting.

For someone who supposedly hated being known for "Star Wars", Alec Guinness didn't seem to have any problem coming back for it. He may have been paid well, but I strongly doubt that was his only motivation.

Given that force sensitives (at least trained ones) could sense other force sensitives - and how powerful Sidious was - I can understand why Kenobi hid the offspring. But recently I've wondered if it would have been better had he and Yoda just raise them both in the same place, and train them ASAP. They'd have the benefit of two great teachers. Besides, given that Luke gave Vader so much trouble in ROTJ (with VASTLY less training and experience), I'd imagine he'd mop the floor w/ Vader, and maybe be a match for pre-Battle of Yavin Sidious after 2 + decades of training w/ Yoda AND Kenobi PLUS fighting for the rebels!

Obi-Wan lies to Luke Skywalker. In order to protect the children he had to wait until he was old enough to learn the truth about Anakin Skywalker.

You can see an interesting side of Obi Wan here in this scene. He was more of a Gray Jedi than virtually any of the others from the Old Republic. While as Yoda pointed out, emotions such as being too sure of one's self, vainglory, and all the other bad ones were the reason the Jedi valued Buddhist-styled detachment, Obi Wan saw the value, virtue, and necessity of brotherhood, love, and affection for one's friends and family. He also knew the danger of allowing them to blind one's self to necessary paths that need to be taken.

That's just sad I missed obi wan and Anakan as a jedi😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

If you listened when they talked about the chosen one, they always said, the one that will bring balance to the force. Anakin did that, he turned to the darkside yes but he destroyed the jedi order, then destroyed the sith including himself. So he brought balance.

In my opinion it was Anakin himself that destroyed the good man he once was. His obsession for power came from his overwhelming desire to protect everything. But he still fails to realise is that’s beyond anyone’s capability, no matter how powerful they can get. That and destruction won’t lead to anything, especially not peace!

I love Anakin so much therefor Obiwan’s pain hurts so much. Truly a tragedy….

This video should have been in return of the Jedi some people can hate the prequels I found them entertaining. This video is a good example to know more on how Luke Skywalker learned more about his life and looking back on what happened before.

Has anyone heard what Luke, Leia & everyone else would do if there was ever a seventh Star wars episode?! Would've been good if there was just one more episode. Sadly, *ONLY SIX* Star Wars episodes were ever made.. 😔

The truth depends on different points of view. Not that the truth doesn't exists or that it is subjective, but that we can see the same coin from different angles. From one point of view, Anakin fell to the dark side and became Vader. From another, Vader took over an destroyed the good man, Anakin. This is so true.

When Luke said to Obi-Wan “there is still good in him.” It’s like what his mother Padme said.

I don't like The Sequel Trilogy, it's coarse, rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.
