One day, Randian Objectivism will be respected, by the academics, as a thought system of the same supreme quality as e.g. Euclid's Geometry, Newtonian Mechanics, etc. I don't mean that they will agree with its basic premises anytime soon, but that they will agree that it is a shining example of an integrated view, a consistent and almost complete philosophy, and a profound result of serious thought. Today, in South Africa, I encounter surprisingly many people who know something about AR, but few who don't echo the 'prescribed' opinion that her work is below par, popular but not profound, unserious, and, worst of all, mistaken in its ethics, politics and economics. None of them can substantiate this. They always refer me to the 'authorities' whose criticisms they regurgitate.

@@exnihilonihilfit6316 By Randian Objectivism, I mean the specific philosophical system created / invented / discovered / developed by Ayn Rand. It contains, for example, the astonishingly original idea that Man needs morality primarily because he is (potentially, at least) a rational being. This flew in the face of the age-old view of morality as 'something' that had nothing to do with the mind or with reason. That's Objectivism with a capital letter O, and I don't know of any other Objectivism, either. But I have, in fact, come across the word objectivism, with a small letter o, in philosophical books that didn't have Rand's O in mind at all. They seem to use it as, simply, the opposite of subjectivism. Example: 'Radical Reflection' by Calvin O. Schragg.
