@@Stubhose also you have to think its not 1 hour of playing videogames, its like 4 hours of footage (about ish) depending on the game and thn maybe even multiple games per day, also editing all of that, it does help if you have an editor, and maybe also streaming, and talking and trying to be entertaining for that entire time is also pretty difficult so its a bunch of stuff together

Oblivion had a more medieval fantasy aesthetic compared to Skyrim, which was more Nordic and Viking adjacent

Ultimately man, make the content you want to make and look after yourself first and foremost. I might not understand the intricacies of the algorithm, but you're a well-spoken dude who echoes the experience of a lot of folk who started enjoying gaming fully in the 2000s. Maybe branch out if you're feeling the fatigue? Do more analytical/essay-style stuff or even try new genres of games to check out gaming scenes you've missed out on or never got into? Just my two cents

Yeah, really cool reply. Not really familiar with your channel but you're clearly a pretty intelligent guy so this feeling will likely get on top of you and affect your output regardless. Video editing and community management has a good amount of transferable skills allowing you to easily change careers which you might want to begin investigating as a backup option. in the mean-time try transitioning the videos (I hate the term 'content') you make towards something which grabs or inspires you and see if your audience follows you there, You unfortunately(?) can't just keep doing the same thing for ever like a worker drone when it relies on a creative spark. Good luck!
@Triforcefilms
@Triforcefilms 19 дней назад
Theres 2 main ways a career in RU-vid can be perpetuated. 1: Either you kinda just... check out. set aside your time and do the work, and accept that its a job. Not all jobs are fun, Or at least not ALWAYS fun, but I think for myself, I recognize that its better than most of the alternatives. I churn out content, i do stuff i don't really care about, and I do the work without much thought or feeling, and just once every now and then, I feel a spark about my content when the stars align. 2: you go the way of say "Nakey Jakey" or "HBomberguy" and simply choose ONLY to put out content that moves you personally, or makes you feel proud. Wait for the project or concept that really pulls at you. You make it "Art". and you feel happier, more proud, more easily inspired and more relaxed about your schedule. Option 1 drains you, but makes you more $ and keeps the brand and legacy alive. Option 2 makes you more happy and helps you feel more fresh and inspired by your work. Unfortunately, neither is a perfect choice, Either way, The choice is yours to make. Where do you fit on that spectrum? I know your audience, the good ones, will be here to soak it in regardless🙂
@jayveeeee
@jayveeeee 18 дней назад
aww thank you man. this helps a lot to read :) i think i’ve always leaned towards option 1 too because im afraid of failing in option 2. the less videos you make, the more they matter. they have to get views or else you’re looking for another job. for a while i’ve wanted to make something like jakey. his stuff feels so authentic, so real. i don’t know what real is for me… not right now at least

I would love to still see you do revisits of older games, but I would also love to see new content forms from you. I've struggled with my own mental health for some time, and sometimes I would get that feeling when I sat down at my PC like "I'm supposed to be playing games, why do I feel like doing nothing, games used to make me happy", but I think the biggest problem with that is that I was trying to force the happiness, force myself to play games I think I should like, instead of putting a game down if I didn't feel like it, taking time for other hobbies, and only gaming when I really do feel happy to play. I know these videos have their niche, but I know if you branched out to other types of videos I'd give it a watch. the most important thing is taking care of yourself. you don't have an obligation to entertain us, but I also want you to know when I didn't feel like doing anything at all your content helped me feel content for a while.

If you change direction and we see your genuine passion in that endeavor then only good things will follow :) Above all, don't let yourself live out a Ground Hogs Day existence where you just do the same thing because it's safe. I enjoy your content Jayvee but I agree your most recent videos haven't been hitting for me. Loading up a game just to sort of blast through the first few hours with no clear intention of committing to the game or really getting into any meaningful discussion about them just feels kinda joyless, a sentiment you seem to have acknowledged in this video. Speaking only for myself, I can load up a game and fart around for a few hours any time, what makes watching a content creator enjoyable to me is when they bring insight or perspective to games that I otherwise wouldn't find by myself. I first subscribed when you were replaying and ranking all the AC games, what drew me in was seeing you talk about a franchise you were clearly passionate about and really digging into what made them good/bad to you. My suggestion for getting that enjoyment back for yourself would be to make more videos on games both new and old that you are genuinely invested in and opening up unique discussions about why that is. Just my opinion. In any case I enjoy your humour and these more recent style videos are good to stick on in the background whilst I'm doing something else so I appreciate all your work, I just hope you can find a style of content that brings you back some satisfaction that I can also find some real engagement with as well :)

as someone who is growing up w modern games, im sort of glad i have a low end pc that allowed me to experience games like oblivion, morrowind, fallout 3 / NV, san andreas etc. If i had a high end device i feel like i wouldnt even have touched any of those games purely because i never grew up with them.

This was the first game I ever played that I could lose entire days to. I put well over a thousand hours into, and while it absolutely shows its age today, it's still impressive what Bethesda was able to achieve with one of the first truly great open world games of its kind.

in regards to the end of the video, i still enjoy these videos but if you want to switch it up, retrospectives and 100% completion videos are entertaining and seem to perform well.

The original Morrowind is still fun but I recommend you try OpenMW. It’s a total rework of Morrowind with crazy graphical, lighting and engine improvements. Everyone’s hyping on Skywind, and totally should be, but OpenMW absolutely kicks ass.

I remember I played about 100 hours of this back when and got to the part where the Mage School person sent me to find some book (main plot mission) and I was immediately killed. At that point I kind of stopped playing. :-(

Damn bro good video… new subscriber and this was enjoyable to listen to. Your digging too deep on it. The people crave genuine videos wether the tone is gloomy or fun… this was a bit gloomier than the average YT vid but that didn’t make me dislike it at all, think it actually fit quite well with the visuals of the game!

Add or subtract elements of your 'formula' , or combine, or all three. Or try the opposit. What excites you to watch? To do? Its good to evolve, to refine, and to experiment. Challenge yourself with something different. List your interests and play with how to integrate them.

I stumbled across Oblivion in a used video game store in 2009, having no idea what it was. I then skipped the next half year of college to play it.

Hey Jayvee, Any plans on making a video talking about and promoting the new Wayward Realms Kickstarter campaign running right now? It is very cool Unreal Engine 5 sequel to Daggerfall...

Oblivion is the best RpG game to date. Why? You don’t need mods for the game to be great. No I hear about leveling etc however mmmm I like the mechanic otherwise it would be too easy or more like WoW. Oblivion is my childhood as well. I’m replaying the game. I started a week ago. Doing a straight magic build.
