We're headed to hike Observation Mountain in Kluane National Park! We've heard this is a spectacular hike, challenging, but worth it! To get there, we drive west from Whitehorse, YK to Haines Junction which is the launch pad for Kluane National Park. We have a great chat with the park staff who give us some very useful insights about the route we are hiking. We also picked up our free bear canister at the visitors centre. Thanks Fitz, from Parks Canada, for your expert guidance! Near to the trailhead, we saw a family of Grizzly Bears!
We met up with Erin and Simon and gathered all of our gear for the hike!
We gave ourselves four days, three nights to hike this route. This allowed us to have a weather window in case it rained on us if the views were obstructed. Luckily, we didn't need to use it!
This was a special place! For one, Krysta LOVES mountain goats and we had many opportunities to see them on this hike. Secondly, it's hard to fathom how large these glaciers are until you see them. It's unlike anything we've ever seen before!!
