Ottawa, Ontario, Canada is Canada's nation's capital. Ottawa is the place to be for the annual Canada Day celebration and festivities (every year on July 1). OC Transpo is the main way to get to Downtown for Canada Day due to numerous street closures and limited parking.
To close the Canada Day festivities would be the Fireworks at 10pm at Parliament Hill. After the conclusion of the 10pm fireworks is when it gets very hectic for OC Transpo when it comes to operating service due to the massive crowds leaving.
Keys stops for Customers:
- Laurier Station for those who wish to watch the Parliament Hill Fireworks at Majors Hill Park
- Albert/Metcalfe for those who wish to watch the Parliament Hill Fireworks at Parliament Hill
- Note MacKenzie Station on MacKenzie King Bridge are closed to customers and pedestrians for safety reason after 7pm in order to allow buses to be staged for standby for after the fireworks.
It is very impressive to see the hardworking Bus Operators, Transit Supervisors, Transit Special Constables (Transit Law), and Ottawa Police working together as a team managing the crowds and directing buses through.
This year (2020) was suppose to have been the first year where the LRT (O-Train Line 1, Confederation Line) would be operating on a Canada Day. But due to COVID-19, it's been cancelled. This video highlights how OC Transpo managed Canada Day bus operations over the years.
