@CountLG I haven't really followed OOT in a while (SRM just got too complicated for my little pea brain) and this is crazy. I have to go check out Danny's video on it now because I have no idea what happened, like it's an entirely new kind of wrong warp I think?
What I wouldn’t be able to give to learn this and go back back in time to when this was released and show people. No context, no explanation. Just beat OOT in less than 13 minutes, peace out, and never be seen again
POG new route, how new is it? hopefully will see other top runners return to defeat ganon also since when is defeat ganon (no srm / restricted srm / unrestricted srm) a thing? wasnt it only srm / no srm? GG
Ganonfloor was found only a few days ago, then work was done to make this route possible, so it's still very new, only a few people have competed runs of it so far. Restricted/Unrestricted SRM subtabs was a compromise following the recent SRM ruleset vote which was split almost 50/50 between least and most restrictive, so we simply split the categories for now to see how they fair with regards to runner activity going forward.
I know a strat from my earlier days of playing Oot as a child, and I wonder if it would be faster. You arrive at the well at 3:16 (on the speedrun timer), and wait until 3:32 to execute the navi dive. That's 16 seconds. Wouldn't it be more optimal to do a cucco dive instead? Or am I overlooking something
That's a good thought, but unfortunately we don't have the necessary items to make use of it. The fast methods of cucco dive use isg (which usually requires shield) or nuts, both of which we don't have at this point. Cucco dive also doesn't save as much as you might think when done optimally, since you still have to set it up and then wait out the entire angry cuccos cutscene, so it would only be a few seconds of difference if we could use it, meaning it wouldn't be worth to go out of our way to get shield or nuts earlier for it. There are technically other methods of cucco dive as well, such as one which involves throwing pots at the cucco repeatedly, but they take far too much setup time to be worthwhile.
The wess to kak is needed to make it into DC before nighttime, since the warp requires child/day to work. Even with max speed giga fwess + sign hess in dmt, you're still about 2 seconds too slow.
