Didn’t think I would get emotional during a beta showcase, but man once Link actually got the Triforce, some part of my childhood finally felt complete in a way I never thought possible. OoT was such an important part of growing up and led to bonding with life long friends. But then to see the Botw scene integrated with chat, the dam broke, and I don’t think I was the only one. Some may find it silly to get emotional over someone basically ROM hacking an old game, but with how the world is right now, damn was it good to be a kid again, even if only for an hour. Thanks to everyone who worked on this project for all the resurfaced memories flooding in, childhood dreams fulfilled, and the sincere tears of joy this 26 year old needed today. P.S. I teared up at the ending, it saying finally after 23 years millions of players dreams have come true really got me. Ocarina of time was probably the most important game of my life and it might just be the starting point of my entire personality as I played it when I was just 4 years old. Then the end, with chat all saying Here Together, and knowing what a great cause this was all for, I just couldn't help it, I really did tear up. This was nothing less than incredible and DwangoAC, Savestate, Sauraen, TASBot and everyone else who worked on this, I hope you're proud of what you've made here, because it wasn't just a fantastic run, you also really did make dreams come true. @@dwangoAC There's been no GDQ in which TASBot was present where I didn't get hyped to see what you guys could possibly figure out next, and in this one, every time I wondered about the massive amounts of time and love that must have gone into that bit of ACE, another came in to floor me again. All of it for a great cause, to bring people together, and to touch the hearts of every kid who'd ever wondered if you that picture of Super Saiyan 8 Goku they saw was real, if you could unlock Luigi in Mario 64, what the secret of Stop N Swop was... ...and if you could somehow trek through the sacred realm and hoist up the triforce in Ocarina of Time, like that one good edit they saw one day. The Zoras Domain was actually meant to melt and give you access to the entrance they used there to visit the unicorn fountain, not sure if it was the location of the fountain or not. There was meant to be an additional adult dungeon with Rauru to get the Light medallion that was cut entirely. A big part of the original game being used here was because it was "cleaned" of unused content in future releases, as well as bug fixes (not sure if they used any of the fixed bugs or not, a lot of this is relatively recent discoveries but perhaps).

@@dwangoAC I don't know where you go from here, but I would avoid the natural inclination to go "bigger" and "better" from what you have here. This run was incredibly creative and perfectly executed, and I think it needs to be left as a beautiful ode to OOT, and GDQ, and gaming in general. I don't know if it would be good for the TAS community if TAS showcase became a one-up contest of who can inject more and more outrageous code into the game, because expectation will quickly become higher that what could be delivered. One of the best things about this run is how unexpected it is. And I don't think you could capture it again. (Although, I'd love to be proven wrong! Lol) So instead of going into more technically impressive code injection for next year and beyond that, I would lightly suggest a different path. Perhaps more emotionally significant injection? The emotional aspect of this run was absolutely pitch perfect. I think there's some potential to go deeper in there. This is a fun idea: what about when you travel back in time 7 years in game, you play a VOD of GDQ from 7 years ago in the game engine. IDK how you would do that, but that's just an idea.

Seeing people get so excited and nostalgic during this showcase not only gave me an idea of what that culture was like, it gave me the opportunity to experience its magic of speculation and discovery right alongside others. You did an amazing job showcasing the transformative potential of ACE and technical speedrunning. So I'm currently working on my PhD which surrounds the way people experience time and space through storytelling, especially in mediums such as fan fiction. This was just so freaking beautiful and is exactly the kind of thing that continues to inspire my work even when people may ask "why are you getting a PhD in fan fiction?" Its this. This is the magic of fan fiction, fandoms, and the passion for these worlds.

The BEST GDQ ever! Got teary eyed and had my baby son clapping at the end! You guys are amazing! I have been playing Zelda since the 80s, but this right here, was momentous, linking my nostalgia and love of the game for all these years and even the years to come! Thanks for this masterpiece!

48:32 one of my favorite songs from LttP in OoT? I'm so pleased to see it reutilized, what with so many of the great tracks we know and love becoming fully realized from the SNES Classic. Excellent work from everyone on the couch and behind the scenes and to everyone that donates, I'm glad so much good can be done with such a great community! Here's to the next AGDQ and everything beyond.

This was one of the most heartwarming moments of SGDQ this year. It made me feel so good. So happy. I was nearly in tears. Video games matter, y'all. The stories they tell, the journeys they take us on, the characters they introduce into our lives - they're important and worth experiencing and learning from. Thanks so much for this, everyone. This was amazing.

I was waiting for that shoutout to Kaze at the end. I know he's a mario guy mainly but he knows his way around the n64 hardware backwards and forwards at this point and just had a feeling he was involved somehow. Incredible work from the whole team.

He was not directly involved--he was in the Special Thanks because the code to make the Bunny Hood work was based on code he wrote for a previous mod (The Missing Link). He knew we were working on something but didn't know any of the details in advance. But yes, some of the tools we used would not have been as developed as they were/are if it wasn't for him and his projects.

'Here Together' This legit made me shed a few tears. I've been playing this game for over 20 years since it came out. This is where it all started for me. I used to make old 'lets plays' for this game back in 2008 - 2010 on old RU-vid when I was in middle school on my free time. Watching this unique run of the game and remembering all the 'urban legends' about the triforce and the running man (anyone remember Rustysporks video about the running man back in the day? lmao) and looking online back then at all the prerelease beta screenshots and old commercials etc this brought it all together for me. Zelda has always been my favorite game and my personal memories and nostalgia for the series will always be cherished in my mind The ending where everyone typed 'here together' had my eyes blurry with tears. This was, as far as I'm concerned, the true ending us as fans wished for and for just one moment, we were all there. I will never forget how pure that moment was. I wish us all an awesome future.
