Aidan Wachter's books are honestly like finding 'home' but in the magickal sense, i cannot rate his books highly enough and his style of writing and explaining stuff - to me its like he's said...'I understand what you need and want and here it is!' It's a total personal thing but so amazing when you find it. Thank you!!
I have "Six Ways" and shared it with our small witch community a few years ago. I practice a more folk based hybrid of western witchcraft combined with local Animist insights from living in Japan for two decades. I found his book to be very insightful and interesting. I will likely pick up the other two to add to our library.
Thank you so much for doing these reviews! There is so much information out there so it’s great to have a guide helping to show where quality information can be found.
Thank you for taking the time to review these books and giving us a good idea about what to expect when reading. I agree that there is a wave of books that have been coming out the last few years that are shallow and lack substance. I really count on reviews by well-read practitioners these days so I don’t find myself wasting time or being disappointed in books that barely skim the surface.
I ordered Changeling an Amazon and the day it arrived I got sick with food poisoning. Holding that book actually was very uncomfortable so I had to put it down. So for the past few days I've been reading it here and there and I'm enjoying it. I enjoyed six ways. I haven't gotten Weaving Fate yet. I would say Changeling would be for absolutel new witches, six ways would be for beginners who have been practicing for a couple to a few months and (from watching review videos) Weaving Fate would be intermediate witches. My favorite practice that I picked up and started to incorporate in my practice from six ways is his grounding technique with reaching into the core of the earth and into the cosmos. Good video.
Yep, I totally agree with you! Changeling is definitely for the beginner witch and Six Ways is for the beginner who has already started practicing a bit. Weaving Fate is SOO interesting; you'll have to let me know what you think of it when you read it! (If you end up reading it, that is.)
Great review. I ordered all three, and thanks to you and foolosh fish inam starting with Changling first. I woll subcribe and follow. I like your energy.
I've seen the books floating around. They look highly interesting. It's always nice seeing writers giving their own spin on things. I don't own any of them yet, but their high on my wishlist.
Thank you so much! I wish I could keep this intro music because it's badass... But it got copywrited so I am unable to use it going forward. It's hard to find "free music" to use as an intro 😆 Still working on finding one that works!
Love Six ways and weaving fate. I can to yet get myself to pay the high price tag for changeling. It is such a small paperback for the price that I just can't do it.
@@IvyTheOccultist I’m rereading The Witches Path now that I have the physical copy of the book and can more easily do the exercises… at the same time I am (audio)reading Psychic Witch while still waiting for the physical copy to come in the mail. Psychic witch seems easier to do the exercises without having to have the physical copy. I’m working on my first draft of my witchy commonplace book. I rather call it that than book of shadows or grimoire. I don’t feel comfortable using those labels for some reason. (Actually, my first draft is note cards because then later I can put them in the order that works best for me… I have commonplace notecards) lol I think my failures at bullet journaling is how I ended up at note cards) How did you gather your thoughts at the beginning of your journey?
@@jenniferthibodeaux8565 I like the idea of the "witchy commonplace"! Call it whatever speaks to your soul. ❤️ I wish I could say I was organized in the very beginning... But there's so much information in so many different categories it was hard to stay organized for sure! I ended up typing up all my notes and saving them on my computer. Then I could always go back and edit the information later on if I found more info on the subject. I found that I was wayyy to chaotic trying to organize all my handwritten notes, so going electronic was easier for me! Then I bought some "aged" looking paper, selected a beautiful cursive font, and printed out all my notes. My grimoire is actually a brown leather 3 ring binder and I have all my typed up notes in protector sheets. But I've also heard people using Discord to organize their notes! They will create a discord server just for themselves and have all these different channels for different categories of magick. And they can save memes in there, or typed up notes, or links to sources, etc.!
@@IvyTheOccultist That sounds awesome! I am still finding my footing. I have been in the “morning pages” habit for a while along with the Five Minute Journal. I guess I thought it wouldn’t be hard to add a little more writing ✍️ but it seems adding more tends to take attention for my responsibilities… Maybe the digital idea might work better for me too, it’s harder to lose a digital document than a note card. 😂
@@IvyTheOccultist probably not the best place to leave a book recommendation but I am reading Spiritual Herbalism at the moment and loving it. I for sure resonate with the books from an animistic view.
Oh, interesting!! I haven't done a deep dive in herbalism, but I'll definitely add that one to my list! I have a background in nutrition but I never went deep into herbalism. Would love to though! Thanks for the recommendation 🤗
