This is probably one of my favorite videos I’ve watched on your channel. As a practitioner of chaos magick, I love Morrison’s story and thoughts on magick and hypersigilization, and would love more videos on the topic. Your awesome personality shines through with every video, and this one definitely showed more of your humorous side, which always makes for a positive viewing experience. Wishing you lots of luck and success with the channel, which I’m happy to say I’ve been subscribed to for nearly a year. Keep up the incredible work!

Yes, by all means: give us your take on Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman, too! (And, others...like maybe Jodorowsky?) Your whole video was good, but the bit toward the end where you described the "wankathon" and then talked about this channel and "options" was especially hilarious, and much appreciated! ;) I think in Morrison's own deployment of that strategy, there was a kind of not-so-subtle joke, too, because there's so often the critique that various types of magic is just a lot of "wankery" and "intellectual masturbation" and so forth, and so Morrison said "Hold my beer" and saw if the thing itself could turn things around.

@@scottkunghadrengsen2604 " cough, cough, " .. not trying to be overly rude or mean here just stating pass talks with other people over thirty years of my life. I do not Care what you Believe. Belief is an emotion and when it comes to science of dealing with cause and effect. Repeated controlled effects equal facts. A person can look at the given outcomes and just say they don't know or understand the effects. Even if they can themselves repeat the same experiment, they still don't Understand why it happens. Then you have those who out right say they " don't believe it." To discredit everything the experiment was about. I spent years doing half handed effort .. circle .. magik and making talismans/charms to hang over door frames and placed under floor mates just to see who will subconsciously walk around such said talismans or trip over them. I seen chronic gossipers and lairs trip over their own words and stutter uncontrollably standing on a floor mat with a charm/curse written on paper under the mat to keep lairs from talking. Or avoid the mat and Refuse to Touch the " blank " piece of paper. The spell was written with vinegar which has a history of global folk magik used to banish negative energy. So once dried the paper looks .. normal. And it is harder for the caster to be blamed for casting hex/curses on people at work. I also seen people Clean a door from with vinegar at work to keep troublemakers from going into a given factory production line. Some people just refuse to work on that line for .. reasons, or walk out the backdoor after a few minutes. Bully/jerks/ troublemakers on the other hand which the line's door frame was warded against had a problem with tripping over their own feet or walking into the conveyor belt hard enough to give themselves pressure cuts. 2.) Over the years at given locations I would just pivoted my foot to create a small circle then follow the tile or concrete square sidewalk gride and place a sticker of some creature such as butterfly or those purple cartoonish unicorns on the ground. Then watch the small children just start up a talk with some .. imaginary .. creature related to the sticker. As I heard over the years and seen youtube videos by professional stage magicians, the more people you can talk into temporary spending disbelief, the more you can awe them with your magic tricks. Problem is to set up a control group that doesn't realize you are casting a ritual, then you later hear them talk about all the strange .. things .. they felt or seen. Hand dexterity control, take a coin quarter, half dollar, or old silver dollar which used to be a bit larger than current coinage. Have a few in hand, roll one between your knuckles and flip the other in the same hand, with a few months if you have good hand dexterity. It took me a few years to roll one coin across my knuckles and juggle two coins with the same hand by flipping two in the air and catching them. Eye trick, you flip both coins up as quick as you can then catch both of them before you flip again. But it looks from a distance of instead you are flipping three coins instead of just two. Next step, controlled .. imagination. Flip/juggle the coins in your left hand and then practice with a long sleeve jacket dropping a card, wand, and small stuff animal out into your right hand. The crowd has to try to pay attention to two hands at once. Explain what they are going to be looking at before you do it. Just explain in detail on how the magic trick is meant to work. They get so convince as to what you are telling them they talk about all the things they see you do. As a joke you tell them about the little stuff bunny you have in your sleeve when you have the playing card in hand. You tell them and show them two out of five bunnies you have, But .. you don't bring out the other three bunnies. Later on them will tell everyone of the five bunnies you did your magic trick with. They get so caught up in the story telling of the stage magic performance, they .. imagine .. seeing all the bunnies. There were no bunnies, there is no spoon. If you get enough people to think/accept/believe you have a little stuff bunny in your jacket, then they will see the Tulpa of the stuff bunny. 3.) This part you can really disagree and not believe, I was out at the Dollar Shop and seen something/one and he waved back at me then disappear around a shelf corner. I walked around the corner and seen a mother with about a four-year-old child, " I politely ask him the child if Donatello of the TMNT is their favorite turtler ?" And he was. The mother took it real kindly. A moment later an older person gave me a deep sigh and said thank G*D he wasn't the only one that saw a TMNT running around the store.

Thank you for this contribution about Grant Morrison! All of these “big three” comic authors are worth looking at in the context of this channel I think. Of course it could be super interesting to look at some academic perspectives on Neil Gaiman! There is also a series called the "Books of Magic", of which he wrote the first part. The main character seems a bit like a proto Harry Potter; there are some interesting takes on tropes such as magical initiations, time travel, familiars (and characters like Constantine or Zatanna also feature). As for Alan Moore, I would of course be very curious to learn more about some of the occult references in his novel “Jerusalem” - but I’d prefer to finish reading it first, which I guess will take years 🙂

My good friend and mentor described magick as an epithet for anomalous interactions in particles and forces. I view it as this and additionally understand it as the act of performing a ritualistic process to achieve an effect. This can apply to almost anything that has steps which result in a specific action. Thus the manipulation of matter and energy by understanding the fundamental interaction between the different components in any form of technology is an expression of magick through techne. And it is under the reign of will and intent, as one who has the knowledge and understanding of the principles behind mechanics can attain their ends by arranging their means accordingly.

Back in the 1990's as a teenager, one of my friends made a joke out about Wicca, " Throw a bunch of occult mumble jumbo into a book with some artwork and the wantabe witches will buy it." Then you have those End Days Christians, there were so many books on the start of WW III with the Russian and the Anti Christ in the 1980's it became a joke for $75. Hustling people out of three days income. WoD Mage just took all the conspiracy theories and made a role playing game out of it. Fiction base off of bull crap fears of reality made up by fearful people looking for excuses to cast blame " sin " on something else. Sorry for the short rant, as a grade school child back in the 1980's during the last days of the Cold War dealing with religious doom day cults calling themselves Christians my .. faith .. in dim witted humans is completely gone by my forties. As a teenager I heard about and read some short books about the moral attacks on comic books and how they were drawing teenager boys into homosexuality and criminal acts at the same time hearing on the news about the dangers of video games. Confusing comic books shenanigans. A lot of love from Argentina ❤, thank you for all the academic fun!!!

I’ve heard that Alan Moore dislikes Grant Morrison. I’d love to know why, especially if the rift has to do with differing conceptions and/or practices of magic.

Good summary. If you're gonna stick to scholarly work on the matter, I expect there will be papers on Alan Moore to work from, and probably Alejandro Jodorowsky, but papers on Enki Bilal and others might be a bit thin on the ground.

As for .. options, .. a.) Skip the bikini, I seen a few of your videos where you were out and about such as your graduation wearing a great pair of boots. Then there was the time you were out visiting your home town local street shops. Please consider doing a Italian style goth fashion video of you in different outfits. b.) Demonstrate the drawling of occult circles and high ceremony magic. Some cities allow chalk street art drawings. Narrow alleys between buildings in a given city location, and Italian cities are old with smooth face exterior walls that have been plaster or fitted with cover face bricks/stones, near perfect for drawing on. You can draw a circle on the ground between two buildings and a circle on each wall facing each other bordering the circle on the ground. Creating a three circle vortex. c.) Low craft kitchen magic of you alchemy add herds/tea leaf drinks and making simple easy cheese sauce for pasta and vegetables. d.) Showing the foot work for a circle dance ritual, I am sure there are videos on YT showing traditional Italian folk dancing, yet some many things have been modernize in the cities. So could you find some sixty year old women from outside of the cities that still know the circle dances that are rooted in pagan traditions. The renaissance sword fencers are not sharing their Christian Cross foot work in defense and attack tactics. As for myself as a teenage back in the 1990's, I had to figure it out on my own. Hope you had a good weekend, and G*D bless.

Interesting insight. I have read the works of Lon Milo Duquette and he have admitted on assisting the company wizards of the coast by giving them insights about the occult that have helped greatly to enrich the theme and universe of their products . This have been a rumor in the past (magicians assisting content creators by giving them ideas about the occult from a direct practitioner perspective) but that have been confirmed in recent years. Also authors of different movies have seek the counsel of occultists in order to get ideas regarding the occult in order to create horror movies since the authors themselves while reading the occult books seem to relax and not be able to incorporate the knowledge to create a horror movie 🤷

When you mentioned Captain marvel the image you showed was marvel comics characters not DC which is billy batson who speaks the word Shazam to gain powers because of the confusion DC later changed this characters name to Shazam so it would be easier to differentiate
