I was 10 and actually attended the last reherasal before the official ceremony, where she didn't perform. So I didn't pay attention to the main event the next day til Björk graced the stage. That was that, I was a changed boy.

Exact same story. About to turn 12. Watching with my family. Took my breath away. My jaw hung open from the first line and I only noticed after the song was over that my mouth was open the whole time I was so stunned. I remember then thinking to myself: " *This* is art." Got Medúlla for my birthday the next month, and never looked back since :) (Though as I later found out, I've been unconciously a fan of hers from even before that as I didn't know in the beginning that she was the same artist who sang All is Full of Love and It's Oh So Quiet which I loved at an even earlier age.)

One of the most beautiful opening ceremonies of the Olympic history!!!
@TheExaltedCasual
@TheExaltedCasual 7 лет назад
bjork has sold less then 100 mil copies world wide. for context gangnam style sold more then that, so the general population of the world doesn't like her. 100 mil out of 7 billion is less then 1%. For some reason though they keep giving her awards, what can we assume. She is just another one of the music people they like to give awards to so they don't have to give them to people in genres they don't like. aka not white music. and side note, millions of women sing better then her, and her musical approach isn't original if she's been going the same thing since the 80's
@thathyinha
@thathyinha 7 лет назад
Yeah, I know and I agree! But I said that one of the most beautiful because of all context, not just about the singer. PS: Bjork is not even in my top 100 of the best singers, but this opening was very good and I have to admit it.
@igordemelo4128
@igordemelo4128 7 лет назад
you seem to spend a lot of your time promoting bjork degradation, although your biased arguments shows inconsistency. originality cannot be measured, and vocal prowess doesnt stands for quality. the number of sold copies cannot determine the artistic value of one singer. "she has the most unique voice i've ever hear'd, a lot of critics says. and so millions critics says that about beyonce and et cetera. the weirdest thing is that you came out of the blue saying things that has nothing to do with one's opinion about an olympic games opening.
7 лет назад
i'm sorry but you're wrong. She sold over 10 million copies through her solo career. And selling billions doesn't mean being good. You really don't know her work to affirm she is the same since 80's. Such a pitty.

I remember on this Day watching the ceremony and I was thinking: Bjork should perform in it... and minutes later she actually did. I was like OMG.
