I used to eat at Ruby’s all the time. Sad to see. I fished off that pier as a kid with a rod/reel I got with 8 books of S&H green stamps. Caught a fish too. My grandmother took a picture on the O’side pier with her fish in the early 1900’s.
Fire usually doesn't spread sideways very well unless something flammable has been poured onto it or other burning substances fall on it as heat goes up unless blocked.
Could it have been grease/oil related? If was once a restaurant what if it was never cleared out of all items of previous owner and vandals got in and made a mess then lit the left over cooking oils on fire. If the structure is wood all that can seep into the wood making it a hard time to put out if using water.
If you’d use your brain and listen to what they say right after that, it’s because the fire was burning under the pier deck. Boats can’t go under there, and it’s not like firemen can walk upside down on the bottom of the pier like Spiderman.
@@appleintosh it’s a wooden structure. The working pressure of tbose firehose are about 40 bar 800 and 2,000 kPa; 116 and 290 psi. They don’t need to work upside down.. those are strong enough to penetrate through.. it’s an absurd explanation. Use your brain
@@davinxi5926Water out of a fire hose can’t go through solid wood. Have you seen the photos of where they cut planks out to create their trench? Those boards look like they’re 5” thick.
The pier isn’t made out of driftwood. The rubys building is made out of the same stuff that every other building is made out of, and they burn to the ground all the time. This is no different. It’s not a conspiracy
FOUR CITY LIFEGUARDS EXTINGUISHED THE OCEANSIDE PIER FIRE as firefighters stood helplessly on the beach!!!! Fire trucks could not drive out onto the pier, and neither could firefighters. The fire chief never mentions that it was lifeguards, not firefighters that extringuished the fire!!! SHAMEFUL!!
the firefighters were on boats and the pier. along with vista, Oceanside, carlsbad and camp pendletons fire authority. coast guard. everyone helped out.
