For you story with the bad diesel...you can have parallel hybrid systems for a cat with electric on one side and diesel elctric shaft drive on the other. They offer full redundency.

I like the idea of electric propulsion on sail boats but till now its hard to find charter yachts with it. Usually peak power of EM is much higher than continious, especially when EM is air cooled. Are the numbers peak or continious? Is there a water cooling system for EM and power electronics? What about the sealing of the prop shaft, is there a change Intervall? Thanks for information, I hope e propulsion becomes more popular, even on charter yachts.

A little story. Last year I got caught in a surprise storm while in a narrow channel with my Catalina 36. We had been motorsailing all day due to light winds and unfavorable wind direction. When the storm came through we were hit with 40mph winds and 5 foot waves. In order to maintain control and stay in the channel my diesel had to run hard for about an hour at near full load. Had I been in an electric boat I would of never been able to generate the sustained power needed to get out of that situation and the outcome would of been much worse. The amount of energy contained in a 30 gallon tank of diesel is huge compared to any battery pack on the market today. While ocean volt is an amazing product it truly isn't for everyone and more than likely will not fit the average cruisers application, especially in an emergency.

Are you guys planning on adding larger motors to the servoprop options? something in the neighborhood of 20 or 25kw? And do you have any plans for outboard motors for dinghys?

Can you take a look at Aquariusengines generators for hybrid integration please? You can get rid of your diesel generator by replacing it with Aquariusengines, less weight, maintenance, complexity, size and much more simple. 8kw-32kw output and 80kg weight (engine only 10.5 kg).

Do you suggest a seperate 12V system for the daily usage (fridge, autopilot etc.) or can we use only one 48V battery pack to be used both engine and daily usage? Some designs have both sepereated what is the reason or advantages/disadvantages of having 2 seperate 12V &48V system vs single 48V sustem?

What's the reliability like with the rotating blades on the props?

Whats the expected maintenance (preventive) for electrical parts? Is there some consumable parts? Or LLP's (Life limited parts)

I know you mentioned that your sweet spot was 30 to 60 feet. Are there plans to support Catamarans in the 80 feet range?
