Where it asks “Have you or any member of your family applied for OCI registration earlier” I thought it relates to a recent application, so I said NO. your video suggests that I need to say YES and put details of when I for OCI card 7 years ago. The OCI was issues on his first passport since than he now has 2 passports, recently I updated the passport details on the OCI Mis portal and application is under process it says can I still travel with his old OCI and will I be block at any point of my travel. Hi Suja. Great video. I had a question regarding the application for miscellaneous OCI. I inputted some incorrect information in the acquisition section where I put " other" rather that "naturalisation" - do you happen to know if this will be an issue during submission. Or would you suggest a reapplication? The documents have been uploaded successful and I have received the acknowledgement email to say it is being assessed. Its worth mentioning that I didn't get a prompt to print after submission, nor a prompt to set up an appointment and payment. Sorry, I appreciate this is quite a long question, but any advice and guidance would be great.

I did a name change for my kid. US Passport was expired too. Just received the NEW passport with updated name as well. Hi, I got my OCI with the passport of when I was 17 years old. I then renewed my passport and I was 19 years old and my OCI had old passport information of 17 years old. Currently I am holding the same passport where I was 19 years old with the OCI of old passport (17). I turned out 23 years old (passport not expired yet) and I am flying to India in a week. I have both new and old passport with OCI of expire passport. Can I travel to India without doing anything? but carrying my both passports expired and new with OCI. I saw there is extension. Can you please tell me that there is a Gratis and chrageable service. The charageable is over 20 and over 50 is the gratis service. I have been told that if you are over 20 you will need to make a VFS Global appoibtnent but not for over 50. Can you be clinical and provide an explanation about this thank you.

Hello Suja: Thank you very much for this helpful video. My new US passport number starts with an alphabet (A). I applied for updating new US passport information in OCI card and that went well. But when I go to OCI status enquiry form it does not accept the passport number. I suspect this is because passport number has an alphabet but the form is expecting only numbers (although the field prompt says enter alphabets and numbers). I believe this is a bug in the form but I don't see any way to contact the consulate or VFS about this issue so that they can fix it. Any ideas?

I have 2 kids: Kid1: At Age 18 years Got OCI on US Passport (Passport Issued at age 18). Her US Passport is valid till 2024 Kid2: At Age 15 years got OCI on US Passport (Passport Issued at age 13). Her US passport expired on July 2019. Her new Passport is valid until 2029. Questions: 1. Can both kids travel to India in August 2022 without updating OCIs? I guess Kid1 is ok to travel since her current passport has OCI. Kid2 can travel with her older US passport? 2. Do both kids will need to apply for new OCIs? When I apply for Misc services for either of my kids, I see only Change of Passport particulars only under Services for re-issuance of OCI Card (Chargeable). Only Address/Occupation Updation is available for Gratis service. Does that mean that I must pay full fee of $275 for each kid to re-issuance of the OCI for both kids? Such a pain to resubmit all docs again 3. If I have to get both kids Re-issue new OCI cards, how soon shall I request that? Is there a time limit? @Suja Prakash, appreciated if you can reply?

Good info, thanks.... but the important point you missed it...what will happen after receiving an acknowledgment email? is this process complete? after acknowledgement email, you will receive another email after 2, 3 weeks with the status of your application...Sometimes, your application gets rejected with some valid reasons, like photo of your signature or image? what will happen next? can you re-upload the images? NOT.... I guess we need to resubmit your application... did anyone go through this?

At 8:29 time in your video, where the question is "Have you/any member of your family applied for OCI ..", I need to enter the myself and also my children whose OCIs were applied for 15 years ago. How can I get their "Reference Number" (I DO have their OCI book).

Per the guidelines, a new OCI card renewal is only required upon the issue of a new passport after completing 20 years of age. Hello Sujata, when i do passport updation with my new US passport particulars the oci services sends this email: has been Rejected. Reason is : re-apply for OCI with full name middle name a per the us passport. My original OCI only had First name and Surmame and no middle name. My new US passport has middle name. When updating passport particulars it does not give me option to add middle name. Can you please advise what to do?

You said near the start of the video you only need to update the passport details upto age 20 and then after 50 when you get new passport. So if you got your OCI after the age of 20, there is no requirement to upload your new passport details untill your over 50 and even then when you get a new passport. That's how im hearing it.
