Using a stockless anchor as an anchor kellet. Interesting idea! It's almost a shame that they don't work. Well, ok.. testing has proven that a kellet is *slightly* effective in light winds up to 10-12 kts, but absolutely no help in strong winds when you really need all the help you can get.

In my day that green navy paint was an EPOXY primer. Really great stuff for seaworthyness.

Actually that hinged anchor is a good idea. That anchor because it’s hinged is designed to drive the “plow” deeper in the ground. Nothing wrong with painting an anchor. Even the anchor on my dads ship the Oriskany was painted.

Oh wow I saw the Oriskany in Pensacola before she was towed out to be sunk in the Gulf. I was down there for Navy flight school.

@@ocean_capable_small_sailboat that’s awesome! I got to see her when she was being prepped to be scuttled in Corpus Christi Texas. I worked as a contractor for the T45 flight training crews for a bit at NAS Kingsville. You ever fly VR57?

No, and I never got to fly at T45 either. I trained on the T-34 Turbomentor, really fun plane.

@@ocean_capable_small_sailboat my dad was Master Chief for VR57. Sometimes the world is a small place. Love your build for sure! Can’t wait to see your sea trials and how well the anchor works.
