Anyone who have seen the 43’ min raw footage from October the 7th, would remember very vividly the two little boys heartbreaking scene - those are two out of four brothers of the Taasa family. The story of this family is tragic and heroic at once. Almost every member of this family had shown courage and resourcefulness in a way that is beyond understanding, while witnessing horror and death all around for several hours.The Taasa family where a family of six: Sabin- the mother, Gil- the father, and four boys: Or 17yo, Zohar 15yo, Koren 13yo and Shai 9yo. The parents were separated and lived in two different houses a few meters apart. On the morning of October the 7th, Gil was with Koren and Shai, and Sabin was with Or and Zohar. At 6am that morning, Or went fishing at Zikim beach, He was murdered there, and Sabin was in the safe room with Zohar while it happened. We have the recording of their last call, while the rockets and terrorist shootings are in the back. Gil was taking Koran and Shai to a shelter outside their house and once they entered it, a terrorist threw a grenade inside the shelter, and Gil jumped on it in order to save his kids, and died instantly in front of their eyes. Straight after that, the terrorist took Koren and Shai back to the house, both injured. At some point, Koren and Shai bravely managed to escape to their mothers house, she opened the door, there was a terrorist behind them, and she successfully managed to let the boys in and slam the door on the terrorists face. She saved them. Ollie spoke to mother, Sabine, while she was in London recently. This is her story and testimony of what happened on that terrible day.
