Be very careful when using midi in into Octatrack. Depending on the key you press, you may turn recording on and off for sampler, mute tracks or do tons of unwanted things. It is very cool that you can basically play keyboard and record that into your OT pattern, but watch out what channels and what controls you want to affect. Another thing, and this was discussed multiple times on forums too. OT can be buggy sometimes with MIDI. If you have big configuration, if you are running a DAW and Ot in parallel, and have a program like MIDI patch bay on your computer, sending and receiving tons of messages to your OT, it might start to act funny. Just reset it. Another thing - Cue that you have mentioned - yes it is cool to use it via headphones but it can also be an alternate output of the dedicated channels for your OT to, say, external pedals that you might want to send back to OT or directly to the mixer.
Thanks for the great video. Just a question, could you not just send midi CC to the MS-1 and open the filter on the MS-1 via. The OT, you would not really need to run audio into the OT? Maybe its not really an MC202 he used, but he just had it modded with filter input and using CV?
No, the MS-1 is not CC controlled. It is a very basic synth and not nearly as good as the original in sound and sequencer operation. There is an "accent" I believe if the velocity is over a certain level, but that is controlled by velocity. The OT is my mixer, resampler and effects so yes, I have to run audio into the OT. I suspect by the sound and operation of it that it is the 202 having had the 101 and 202 for years now.
@@Digiphex Ah ok, I am surprised, i have the model D and the pro-1 clones and they both respond to midi CC to filter cutoff. Also the TD-3 does this. Never had the 202 but I had the 101 for 15 years, decided to sell it and get the SH01a instead, i am not really a collector and found the SH01a to be the same sound as my 101 :) I mean of course with slight differences in all Roland products. Also saw your TD-3 MO Video and if you ever get a chance, maybe look at the MAM MB33 Retro, I think it has that "sound"
