Taken from three episodes of "M*A*S*H" on CBS O&O KNXT (now KCBS) in Los Angeles.
At the time, the FCC didn't allow complementary call signs to exist across multiple cities; because KCBS was already in legacy use on stations in San Francisco, CBS used the KNXT calls for channel 2, based on co-owned LA radio stations KNX and KNX-FM. The FCC eventually granted a waiver in 1984 (and later backed off of the ban altogether), allowing channel 2 to acquire the KCBS-TV calls.

Wow , I was in community college in Southern California , October 1979. Tuition was free(!)😄 You just paid a $12.00 admission fee , but you had to buy your textbooks. This KNXT , Channel 2 , Los Angeles upload was a month before the Iranian takeover of the US embassy in Iran. Thanks for sharing!

The VO for the "Rockford Files" ID uses the initial name for the off-net reruns: "Jim Rockford, Private Investigator". That probably explains why the slide itself just says "Rockford".

@@Channel37TV I was living in NOLA at the time, almost 9 years old; WWL-TV, Channel 4(also CBS), aired *Jim Rockford, Private Investigator* weekdays at 4pm, before *Eyewitness News.*

After 13:03, I could imagine Rolland Smith and Jim Jensen giving the rundown... "Coming up next on the 11 O'Clock eiditon of *Channel 2 News,* ec...." Yep, please forgive me; I'm referencing New York City(WCBS) with the names of Smith and Jensen...
