I grew up on KTLA in the 80's. I always thought it had the classiest on-air presentation of the independent stations in L.A. of the period. A reflection of the staff and management that Gene Autry's Golden West Broadcasters had when it owned the station.

In the '70s and '80s, KTLA Channel 5 was the COOLEST channel on TV!! Saturday mornings, we may have tuned in to the 'Big 3' (CBS, NBC (not so much!) and ABC), but Saturday (and Sunday) afternoons belonged to KTLA. The Munsters, Gilligan's Island, Family Film Festival, Star Trek and of course, the 'Movie for a Saturday/Sunday Evening' -- which was ALWAYS something good!

I remember most of these commercials , and it seems like it was only yesterday. Channel 5 , KTLA, Los Angeles used to show a lot of good movies. The clip of the promotion of Laugh Trax was spoofing the Valley girl image , lol . She was speaking in "Val talk" ( Frank Zappa's daughter had a hit record , "Valley Girl , " Omg , Like that is so bitching ", lol! I showed my teenage son the commercial of the video games that we used to play. He fell on the floor laughing at the graphics. He said it was 2 dimensional , and was on the level for second graders. I told him , hey some kids played these games and were inspired to go in the computer field. Don't laugh because they made computers better for your ungrateful generation. The C and H sugar spot. I miss this commercial on TV. I tell my wife my mother always bought C and H sugar and she gets mad and says ," Sugar is Sugar!" I tell her imho C and H was the best sugar available. Thank you for uploading these commercials because my parents were still alive on this date.

About those "second-grade" level video games your kids laughed at, they were state-of-the-art at the time. If he thinks that those games are primitive, you should tell him about "Pong".

@@allisoncorona1324 You're right! It was a state of the art video game in the early 1970s. I'll see if I can find it on RU-vid.

Wait until they find out that some games were entirely text-based. I remember trying to secretly boot my Apple //e to play games without my parents finding out that I was still awake ... I can only describe the sound as a robot having a stroke.

Dude , I bought 10 footlockers in 1985 to store comic books. I bought them at Zody's for around $12.00. I still have the comic books in them. They're in comic book bags and are still in good condition.

My family and I moved to CA in 1980, I remember commercials like these back then. There were only a few channels: Channel 2 CBS, Channel 9 (don't recall name) Channel 4 was NBC, and there was Channel 13 and Channel 11 Fox. I think there was Channel 5 as well.. No cable back then of course
