2 things: 1st I think the cheek pistol concept has more merit, definitely not for shooting from the ground or from barriers, but vs a standard pistol offers greater accuracy, smaller overall shooting stance but with a bulkier weapon, and if someone tries to design a pistol specifically for that application, it could be better! (Downward or Forward ejection) and the guy who came up with the technique was able to perform under the clock against standard shotguns with his pistol grip shotgun technique and win doing it! 2ndly I appreciate you discussing being a minority in the 2nd Amendment community, it's something I can relate to! I come from a Sikh family I'm not religious so I don't wear a turban and have been interested in firearms since childhood, got my 1st around the age of 20 and am in my 40's now... When my younger cousin (who is a practicing Sikh and wears a turban) showed interest in firearms, I thought I'd like to be an ambassador to the sport/hobby and took him a gun shop I'd send an hour or 2 just browsing around without any issues for years, but the visit with him wasn't like all the others I've had went I went alone, it's kinda hard to explain, but the "energy" was off from the other customers, the staff were all respectful and professional, but about 20-30 mins into our visit we looked at each other and said maybe we should leave before anyone does something stupid, we weren't causing a scene or acting inappropriately, just looking around and getting "mean mugged" by customers who we weren't interacting with, I was saddened by the experience, but just wanted to say you should stick up for your beliefs, but wise enough to know not to be present at a place people might be armed and see you as the "enemy" (we're both US citizens, no criminal history, he works as an advocate for the elderly etc)... I got him to buy a WWSD rifle tho! Lol I'd buy one but financial and health issues have prevented me from getting it, hope you all beat the BS case against the WWSD so I could get one in the future! Best of luck!

The Swedish mauser 96 has a cocking piece and is the only 'true' mauser that has one to my knowledge. The 1903 springfield has a cocking piece likely because the Krag has one. By the way the 1903 spring is not a '93 mauser, but borrows a lot from mauser designs. The 03 has a third locking lug that serves as an additional failsafe in case a high pressure event shears the first two lugs. The '93 does not have such a lug. So I would called the 03 a modified small ring 98. Where it deviates from mauser such as a cone breech and cocking piece were likely bad choices. The mexicans made a true small ring '98 in 7x57. For US the krag is a design initially of the very early 1890's and adopted in 1892 and I am guessing the priming of this early smokeless cartridge sometimes misfired is the reason for the cocking piece on the bolt.

I live in Massachusetts (born and raised, we all have our blind spots) and being a ban State the MDR and the hellion are both very appealing options. I personally have a hellion and I do not feel outgunned when I am at the range. Add to that that even the most budget AR costs 2K Plus for a pre-ban, and the math starts to sway heavily in favor of the bullpup.

My $0.02 about the M1 Carbine vs. the AR15: the M1 Carbine may have _one_ advantage--legality and availability depending on one's particular municipality or area. There are some areas in which the AR15 and similar platforms may be banned by law, but the M1 Carbine is legally permissible for civilian shooters to own. In that case, the M1 Carbine you can own is better than the AR15 which you cannot get! This also applies if you live in an area where firearms laws are in flux, and you are potentially concerned about your current weapons suddenly becoming illegal overnight. Or if you inherited an M1 Carbine, but cannot afford to buy a new AR15, then again, the M1 in your closet is better than the AR15 on the shelf at your local gun store. But other than those rather obvious, rare, and highly specific cases, if you have ready access to *both* the AR15 and M1 Carbine, there's no question that the AR is the superior defensive rifle any day out of the week.

Might i add one … apartment dwellers who are concerned with over penetration because don’t care what 5.56 you are using you are going to get through and throughs and the .30 carbine just by it’s nature will have less leftover energy pair that with a modern self defense round for the old carbine and sounds like a better choice in those parameters

Thanks for your answers! The whole stockless-firearms thing always feels a bit contrived except in extremely specific circumstances. The only ones I can think of are concealing something like an SMG on one's person for VIP security, or a vehicle-based security service. Most people on the internet don't fall into those categories! Probably people overthinking how to make their "pistols" effective without applying for a Form-1.

On that last point I think it could be fun to do a target identification stage on a brutality event. Similar to the calculation stage, you flip 1 of 6 covered pictures and you shoot the targets with that visual ID. Although you’d probably have to work with paper targets and replace them often, which would such for the match design.

My first ever gun is a New Model Army brass frame made by Pietta. And let me tell ya, there's so many things to consider especially because it's brass frame. Ammo can be hard to find pending where you live, a lot of accessories to keep noted (i'm still looking for a powder scoop because Pyrodex doesn't put one in their containers) it's a hassle to load your powder measure without one making it 10 times longer to reload than usual. One cylinder takes me 10 minutes at the least. If I could go back in time I would've told myself to get the 1851 colt navy instead. Because a brass frame New Model army is only slightly cheaper than a steel frame 1851 at Cabelas.

As a Norwegian about the food: Traditional food from here is boring. Norway was a poor country untill the 1970's so spices, fancy ingredients, and cooking skill were in short supply. Some of the fancy restaurants might serve neo-traditional food made with modern techniques, like microgastronomy or such. But most food you'd eat out would be some other nations cuisine.

im on the same page. i think a short stock is always BETTER than sling or cheek. not only does a proper stock give more stability, it has better recoil redirection, it is healthier as it does not "shock" (or vibrate" ) your skull and the soft mass inside as much. and imho, it is faster to get the gun into position with a stock than with the cheek hold. for consealment: we've seen enough folding or telescoping stocks that there should be nearly no setup time nor "footprint" expansion for the gun.

I think that if brutality events ever got sooo popular that they filled up instantly (they already fill up quite well), with, granted, quite a bit of work on the match director side one could make a doubles rules set with a singles fall back so that you could essentially nearly double the shooter population/revenue without changing the length of the match meaningfully. I would understand if the work is too much to be worth it because it essentially doubles everything on the match director's plate. I hope brutality is successful enough long term to consider this as a possibility.
