The fake exhaust tips were the worst idea. Its crazy to think on such an expensive SUV, you would have to install aftermarket real exhaust tips. Good video.
Hola Gil - I have a 2023 SQ5, from Mexico. I went to the El Paso, TX Audi dealership at the end of last year and purchased the exhaust tips. On the day of the scheduled service, they did not know of this process. In fact, they suggested buying the rear facia instead. I was really disappointed and, in the end, I had to return the exhaust tips… Is there a way I can connect you with the El Paso Audi Service department? It seems that the folks at the service department did not want (or did not have the knowledge) to do this service (I even shared this video, with no success).
Just for reference, in Mexico, SQ5 does not have the option for real exhaust tips as the US version. The extraordinary thing is that all SQ5 are manufactured in Mexico… imagine that!
parts.audiusa.com/accessories/Audi__SQ5/Sport-and-Design---Exhaust---Sport-and-Design.html Go here and you can order the parts you need. Not all dealer ships are aware of all Audi US offers
Muchas, muchas gracias Gil! I noticed that you refer to the SQ5 Sport Exhaust, Black… do you know if the chrome ones (80A071904) will fit? My SQ5 is black with black optics, and the chrome ones would standout more!
Mark, thanks for your inquiry the part number you are looking for is kit is 8OA.071.904 The parts will be available next month at your local dealership these are a factory accessory. Thank you
Thanks Gil!!..I really appreciate you taking the time to respond...I had just about written the SQ5 off of the list due to the fake quad exhaust until I saw your video. I am still amazed that Audi released the SQ5 with the plastic exhaust tips. Thanks again for your help!!..Take Care
For reference only: I have a 2023 Audi SQ5 and purchased the ZAW071897EDSP exhaust tailpipes in an attempt to restore the authentic exhaust system. However, I encountered an issue during installation. The left side with the valve could be installed properly, but the right side had incorrect dimensions. The factory-original left side has a slightly smaller diameter, around 6.5cm in diameter, while the right side without a valve has a diameter of 7cm. I had to remove the new exhaust tailpipe, make modifications, and weld it again in order to fit it. The outcome after the modifications is quite good, although the edges of the plastic parts aren't perfectly smooth. Those with higher attention to detail might find it less satisfying. I am very grateful for this video and Gil's help, and I hope it will be helpful for others in the future.
Hi thank you for your interest, unfortunately I don’t know if they offer anything for the rectangle S Q5 from Audi. The tips that I have installed on this 2021 has the factory warranty because it’s a factory accessory. Maybe you can buy a 2021 rear apron and adopt these tips to your vehicle.
Планирую поставить такой диффузор на Q5 2017 года с такими насадками. В данный момент ищу поставщика, так как в России пока нет запчастей от обновленной SQ5
Hi Gil! You have comments turned off on your recent videos. I’m looking to have my illuminated emblem painted black like you did. Is there a way you could provide more instruction or have advice on how I could get this done? Video I’m curious about: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TuFrV1IUaDU.html
Thanks for the great information! I hated fake exhaust and gave up buying SQ5 for 3 years. Thanks to your wonderful video, I found hope in purchasing the 2021 SQ5. I hope that the exhaust system kit can be replaced in Japan as well (^ _-)-☆
Hey Gil. I absolutely hate the fake exhaust on my 2020 SQ5. I don’t have the fake tips but the rectangle fake black fill ins. Do you have any idea I could do the same as your doing on your 2021 SQ5. Also, how would this replacement effect any warranties offered by Audi? Great Video and thank you!
Unfortunately there are no cut-outs for 2018-2020. There are two options. One, you change your whole exhaust ( awe) is a good brand and sounds the best in my opinion ( about $2000 but it still curves down like the stock exhaust) Or, you could go the Abt route, which includes a new bottom section of your bumper already cut out and new tips as well. The abt option is about $3300.
I’m sorry you feel this way. I was skeptical as well! However as time goes on, and I learned more about the product there is science behind this. it does add a different tone to the vehicle and performance. Now, if you are willing to spend the money to complete, your desire is entirely up to each individual. Everyone is an entitled to your opinion. Thank you for it.
I know i’m late and i hope you respond but i have a sq5 sport back 2021 and i wanted to do the exact same thing, you think you can lead me to a website that i could purchase this from ?
I think that this modification cannot suitable for Sportback SQ5 if the sportback SQ5 uses TDI, behind the fake exhaust on the right is the urea tank. If the SQ5 sportback is TFSI, then this modification can bt suitable.
I’ve been asked what blades I used to cut the exhaust. It is a difficult task to find the right blade that will cut that harden steel. I used high performance carbide blade for greater durability and will not burn up the blade. check out the link: www.google.com/shopping/product/946983487918327333?q=zaza+blades+hard+metal&rlz=1CDGOYI_enUS743US743&hl=en-US&biw=390&bih=669&tbs=vw:l,ss:44&prmd=svin&sxsrf=ALeKk01JEDxjO8lBNE0eVtVXfSqy2HhqZg:1621004817528&prds=eto:6083726277544576714_0,cdl:1,prmr:1,cs:1
Gil I’m from Mexico and i don’t know that is fake this part and I buy the sq5 2021, I want a this part you sell or where can I found and send to Mexico ?
Unfortunately as much as I would like to say it will work it will not. As far as the functionality of the exhaust fitting to the exhaust yes but not for the cosmetic side on the bumper
so in order to have those tip work on your vehicle, you are going to have to replace the whole lower valance to adapt to the upper part of the current bumper. It’s going to require some paint work and a lot of different parts. It could be accomplished but it’s not going to be cheap.
Good video , now what kind of saws all blade did you use ?? I have tried different tips but after 2 cuts they are done , id u have any info much appreciated
hi thank you for message. here is the link were you can get the exhaust tips. how ever on your vehicle you will need to mod the lower valance. all you have to do get all the parts at the dealer and you will be set. parts.santamonicaaudi.com/p/Audi__SQ5/Sound-Enhancing-Resonator-Kit/97708107/80A071904.html?partner=googlebase_adwords&kwd=&origin=pla&partnerDevice=c&userLocation=9031067&gclid=Cj0KCQjw5JSLBhCxARIsAHgO2SdXICZg3b-TmCbeYU2FBYnOQZJIdUMSpk6rjPI6U2Fo8eKHMfokW6EaAvr-EALw_wcB
I have a 2018 and I'm thinking on upgrading with the ABT Kit it looks better and probably AUDI don't make a kit for old SQ5. The only problem is that the ABT kit is more expensive. 2000.00 US dollars. This was a good video thumbs up...
@Rolling Bricks Info to tell you the truth I don’t know. You can contact ABT direct and they will tell you. They have a location in Miami, Florida this is their web site abt-america.com/tuning..
Thanks for your inquiry here is a link or you can purchase them online along with the part number parts.santamonicaaudi.com/p/Audi__SQ5/SQ5-Sport-Exhaust--Black/109131021/ZAW071897EDSP.html?clickSource=relatedProduct
I just bought a 2021 SQ5. The dealer did not know of this option but it is cataloged by Audi (parts.audiusa.com/p/Audi_2021_SQ5/Sport-Exhaust-Tips/97708107/80A071904.html). I simply told the dealer, amongst other bargaining, that no real exhaust tips = no sale, and they made it happen (in all seriousness, without this option I really would not have purchased the SQ5). I gave the dealer this link and they had to order them from another dealer. Only took about week. I didn't bother having the dealer do the install owing to how simple it is (thanks to this video!). As to,Why? Between engineering and manufacturing the plastic tips and their mounting, plus the engineering/manufacturing/cataloging/instructions/inventory for the real tips as an option, all told this seems like a more expensive option than just providing all 2021 SQ5s with the real tips. Having had cars in the past with stainless steel exhaust tips, they are high maintenance, and have to be cleaned every few weeks. With these fake tips of course, there is no cleaning. I drove the SQ5 for a week or so with the fake tips, and really, it didn't bother me as much as I had expected. But still a deal breaker for me.
Just got back from the dealer - probably not for cleanliness. The 2021 S models they had in the showroom (S4, SQ7) had legit quad exhaust tips, so it's probably the case with other S models. Why single out the SQ5? I don't care now - only care that the Audi upgrade is available. Pricey at $1,250 list but worth it.
Nope you tighten it up and you’re good to go if you want to go through the extra step and seal it up it’s entirely up to you. Wouldn’t hurt! Thanks for subscribing I am going to be working this upcoming year to be adding some more cool stuff to this venture I took on I’m not going to be pushing for people subscribe I’m doing this purely because I made enthusiast thank u
Hey Gil. Just put the black tips on my 2022 SQ5. I noticed the sound doesn’t crackle as much. Almost a more dull sound. Is there anything else that is needed or am I missing something?
Does a Dealership do a specific tune to obtain that crackle. Roommate has a 2021 SQ5 with the exhaust on it. Has a way better sound than my 2022 with me putting the exhaust on myself. Let me know! Love the video
@@nicholasuslar2115 no the dealer will not do the tune …… you would have to do like an APR or 034 tune ……. NOTE will black ball your car from warranty …….🫤 your call sucks
Just had these installed on my car and they left the plastic piece underneath the new tips not a big deal I guess.. anyways I notice whatever mode I have the car in that the exhaust smoke really only comes out of the passenger side of the vehicle. I read that this has to do with the valve on the driver side which opens above 3,000 RPM. Is that true ?
Yeah a lot of newer cars (from all manufacturers not just Audi) have exhaust valves that only open up both sides of the exhaust when the engine is above a certain RPM as well as the car being above a certain speed. I know on many BMW’s the valves open up past 65 mph but close under 40 mph
parts.audiusa.com/p/Audi_2021_SQ5/Sport-Exhaust-Tips/97708107/80A071904.html. Here you go there factory parts part # 80A.071.904 good luck there worth it to me
Hey Gil - Thanks greatly for posting the video - It is extremely helpful! I am interested in the 2021 SQ5, but I hate the fake exhaust tips that Audi has installed. Audi was suppose to give an option to make the tips hot, but the Audi Dealerships do not seem to know anything about swapping out the fake exhaust. Can you please give the manufacturer and part # for the exhaust tips you installed in the video? They looked awesome!!..Thanks, Mark
You can purchase this kit from the dealer. They are in the accessory catalog you will have to walk them through that because most dealers aren’t aware of this exhaust tip system yet
Sorry about that. I will see about getting some sound on a different video let me say though it does change the characteristics of the vehicle and it does sound way better
