I grinded all 8 characters, with my 4 supports at lv60 and 4 characters I used throughout the game between lv75-81. Then I spent about an hour beating him "fair and square." Then I watch this video and now I feel really silly.
I found way easier in second phase to leave Tressa as Runelord and Obelic as Warlord same skills you have for Obelic in this video. 1HP to do a massive damage. Ophilia as Starseer and so in case they died revive again with 1 HP. An Alfyn. Basicly leading and filling to 9999 HP him and Ophilia every time is needed. It was a true challenge for me, i explored a lot, i finished after 150 hours. What a masterpiece hope they keep doing this kind of games.
@@CreepyUncleIdjit You might be using it on broken enemies. Enemies will always have the first turn after being broken. Else, Leghold Trap is guaranteed. 👍
I've just finished this boss a while ago blindly (but on my 2nd attempt. Got wrecked on my 1st.). I had a completely different build and am watching how other people destroyed this thing. This is really impressive!
really cool strategy! i never really understood the use of dohter's charity, but seeing how you use it to keep BP at max is ingenious! thanks for sharing your full build and everything; definitely looking forward to giving this a try :)
I watched this video years ago after failing multiple times. I was satisfied with watching you do it so I set the game down. Now years later I started over and beat him today for the first time using this strat. Very helpful, thank you.
I just wanted to say that this strategy works! Although the second I used your strategy, I got electrocuted by the boss, because I had forgotten to use a pomegranate on Olberic. But, the 3rd time it worked! I had a level 80 team (Second team was 75 expect Olberic) and I actually beat him. If anyone says that this strategy doesn’t work, they are wrong! I couldn’t find a strategy before this and it didn’t work. Thanks so much for posting this video! 😎
@@martinandrerosasoftiz3632 Fair enough, but still. This boss can even wipe level 70 parties if you're not careful so make sure you're prepared. If you want to grind, then it's best to have the extra experience and hard worker support skills equipped as well as badge of friendship and captain badge.
Even with this party, strategy and lvl 70 characters the second phase beat me to a bloody pulp three times in a row, because it uses this damn lightning all the time. If you wouldn't have to go through these minor bosses before, they annoy me so much. I am at the point of giving up, but I already put so many hours in this, it's unbelievable...
Update: thanks for the setup! Managed to beat him now. Olberic did 80k damage per hit during the break. Had to be extra careful about it because the turn orders got a bit tangled due to my squad being higher level, but it was all worth it. I also almost missed the break window due to unlucky Spear RNG from Therion and Olberic, but Primrose and Alfyn managed to eke out enough hits to break him.
With this i thank you from the bottom of my heart. This lineup and strategy helped me in defeati ng this mofucka just now. Im still in the post battle scene as i am typing this. Thank you so much! I used hannig instead of olberic. That 80k to 90k last damage before galdera faded in the background is lika an orgasm. Armor corrosive to galdera plus divination plus lion dance to hannit is the greatest 80k to 90k damage shit! Thank you so much! Much love from the island of the philippines!
Thank you. After 5 hours of repeatitly trying it qnd slqying through the boss rush before galdera I finally beat him! (The savepoint bwfore galdera in ot 2 is a godsend!)
Truly one of the worst true endings ever. Practically unachievable without a guide. First, complete 2 random side quests to unlock the final dungeon. One of which is located on a road in between 2 random towns. Was I supposed to comb the whole game to find that? Secondly, grinding is insufferable, as the highest level dungeon is lvl 53, I think. (But I guess you don't need to grind with this strat) Lastly, if you die on galdera, you have to re-fight all 8 bosses leading up to the final boss just to have another attempt. Such a waist of time. The thing that frustrates me the most is that I had to come here. With an average team level of 75. My strategy got stomped on time and again. Over 20 failed attempts, and only 4 attempts even made it to phase 2. Everyone in these comments saying this was a good final boss... I bet you copied somebody else's guide... nothing like feeling like a complete chump with a boss that only has a small handful of ways to actually defeat.......... Thanks for the guide......
Eh, I just experimented a bit and figured out how to optimize my damage. Winneheld trivializes the second phase, Sorcerer trivializes both phases, and somebody must've put in an extra 0 when programming the runes because being able to do 50K without boosting is ridiculous. Octopath is a very unbalanced game. Ever try maximize speed and attack on Therion for Aeber's Reckoning? That's easy way to reach 100K before chapter four. Though given the difficulty of 99% of the game, you never need to do that. The difficulty spike is definitely a problem, and the boss rush should be quicker, I agree. That's all though.
Bro, how can You die with party level 75. And i tought i was Dumb because i killed Galdera at the first try with average level 73 when i was a pretty little kid. Now i beat him withouth secondary Jobs and level 50 withouth any strange strategy... Still, i understand your comment, but in My opinion it's not that bad of an ending, it's most like a secret boss than a final boss for me, at least i prefer to think like that.
I came in blind at lvl 70 having stomped all previous bosses with ease, got my ass kicked in phase 1 lol. My formation was terrible and I couldn’t meet the dps checks on adds.
sqare enix are hot garbage. i ground for FIFTY hours in that forest to level my whole party to 96 and I STILL couldn’t do this-not even close! there is no reality where I am spending 2-3 hours grinding through those pre-bosses for another trial-and-error shot at whittling down its 500,000 point health bar-and that’s just the first phase. there is also no reality in which i follow a recipe to do it, that’s not why i play games, if im following a recipe i may as well be just staring at the tv. this sucks so hard. ill make them pay for designing such a deceptive alluring time-wasting dog-crap game in the next life.
You got extrmely lucky that it didn't lock its spear vulnerability in phase 2 and it didn't kill Olberic. It was almost impossible to pull off the phase 2 strat. EDIT: I think maybe I just got extremely unlucky my first try. Second try I actually beat the second part without the boss even getting a turn.
Amigo, muchas gracias, use tu método y me funciono al cuarto intento, es un jefe impresionante, definitivamente vale la pena los 60 euros este título. Muchas gracias de nuevo
This boss is the absolute definition of bullshit, it takes literal hours to even reach the bastard, and when you do, its only a matter of chance whether it one-shots you out in the very first turn or not.
@@Mario497 I mean sure, there's probably dozens of methods to cheese the boss rush, but still, any boss that needs you to cheese fights for at least 15 minutes only to have another shot at him is a shitty boss in my opinion
I'm late to the party but only discovered this game after playing the sequel a few weeks ago. I thought that the warmaster would be my biggest hitter but it was actually the thief's divine skill i forgot what its called. Much easier to set up too, only concentrating on speed. It dealt more damage against multiple targets AND you get two of them oje for each party.
I spent almost two hours killing all the bosses then nearly an hour fighting the fucking eye. I couldn’t keep him and his minions broke enough to kill them. Just a slog. Now I watch a couple videos and seems so easy haha. I was Lv 70 for my three main and the rest were 45-50. Now they’re 85 and 60-65. I’ll crush him when I attempt it again.
Thx for the vid. I began octhopath few weeks ago, first of all just discovering the game, the 4 chatpers of every character. Then replayed the game, searching for every second quest and secrets jobs. Then grinding for 70+ lvl for defeat the final boss. First try. But how amazing is your strat! Very good job, we can see your mastery of the game, well played!
Just tried to copy this strategy and I got wiped in the second phase because the boss hit an AOE before my Olberic even got his first turn. Couldn't revive fast enough to come back from that. I wonder if it's just down to luck for that.
i discovered the game a few months ago and decided to do all bosses of the game as usual in RPG and i have to thank you for the guid about that one because he wasn't that easy! so thank you and well done!
It's been a while since this was out but I'd like to send thanks! I used some of this and another guide to get through the final boss. The sequel is out today so I can finally get started :D
En serio que la estrategia funciono a la tercera, jeje. La segunda parte requiere a veces de suerte, ya que si hace una zonal, ahí perdimos. Pero funciona, gracias.
I'm surprised some of the characters have a few makeshift weapons. Is that because those things aren't used so it doesn't matter, or does equipping something there throw off the team somehow?
You can get more by looting dungeons and NPCs. But to farm large amounts, you will need to go to the forest of purgation and equip the passive snatch from the thief and steal it from the Revenant. It should be the huge enemy thing, you'll know when you find it. It should be a random encounter.
Hard worker passive from Starseer + Badge of friendship acessory gives 2x JP when equipped, so get these as soon as possible to get low levels but higher JP
Well it looks like im gonna have to do some swapping around of classes adn skills, and find some of the items you have. I'm trying to get everybody to lvl 70 and with this, it'll help me a lot
I had to watch the video at half speed to take notes: Phase 1 Primary Attacker: Tressa - H'aanit (Apothecary) uses Dohter's Charity on Ophilia (Dancer) - Ophilia uses Revitalizing Jam - Cyrus (Runelord) uses Alephan's Enlightenment on Tressa - Tressa (Sorcerer) uses Lux Congrere or Ventus Saltare - Cyrus (Runelord) uses Balogar's Blade - H'aanit uses Tomahawk Axe to break or Leghold Trap - Ophilia uses Alefric's Auspices on Tressa Phase 2 Primary Attacker: Olric Alfyn (Hunter) gives Pomegranate to Olric (Warlord) Primrose (Starseer) uses Divination on Olric Therion (Warrior) - Armor Corrosive on Galdera Olric uses Winnehild's Battle Cry Alfyn - Leghold Trap or Rain of Arrows Therion - Thousand Spears Primrose - Shooting Stars If this is too complicated, just keep giving Tressa and Olric pomegranates. Use Hunters and Warriors like Therion, Alfyn and H'aanit to break. Primrose and Ophilia for buffing skills like Alephan's Enlightenment and Divination. I beat Galdera using these strats in one attempt.
I think you can farm them in the forest of purgation by using steal if I remember correctly. Its been a while since I played, so I can't quite remember for sure
You have to beat all the bosses at lower levels. Basically, you need to get as many good weapons as you can very early on. Getting JP boosting items like badge of frindship will also be useful to get those skills that earlier than normal too.
@@Mario497 owh okay i'm not good for reading english ^^. thx ! atm i'll equip all stuff and i'll be good for kill this boss :) very great video. i'll tell you if he's dead
@@Mario497 thx for the strat my man ! 1st stage it was hard i don't use the video and 2nd stage 2 turns and ez pz without taking dmg ^^. perfect video this build is insane !
Very nice strategy. Thanks for sharing it. I was finally able to defeat it. One of the most important moves in phase 2 is Alfyn's Leghold Trap after his parts are destroyed. For some reason, in my first attempt using your strategy I forgot to do it and my party got wiped.
I've gotten trashed too many times now! Beating all the the other bosses again just to try the final phase is too much! Some how despite having hang tough equipped to Olberic he gets chipped to death! Sad face
I would switch out Elemental Edge for Augmented Elements. Edge is just an elemental buff, which you can get elsewhere. There's an old woman in Whispermill who, if summoned, will constantly buff your entire party's elemental stats each turn (dancer Ophilia can also do it with peacock strut). AE however multiplies your final damage by 1.2, on top of everything else. Was doing 63K each hit, maybe 380K total with repeated cast (was a few levels higher though).
Wait, 2 phases? And your team gets swapped out? 😩 Mayne I just put the game on charge after beating the 8 bosses and I haven't trained the others much at all. 😭 I'm gonna lose
I did exactly as the strategy but at the end my Olberic hp wasnt 1 it was 2k something so my Fortitude ability didnt unlock the dmg full potential so inteas of these last 40k dmg with warmaster super...? I did 30k with winnheld which is still wasnt enough... and then I lost.
Man slightly emulating your setup made Phase 1 easy Phase 2 was going great till all was left was the main body and then he unloaded on me and wiped me
nice, but i wanna ask some one can some one please help me Skype with me for 1 night to kill this boss i tried it 7 times even with this but i can not win its insanely frustrating if someone wanna help me thank u so much!!!!
do you have the same equips and passive skills equiped? proper jobs and party set up? at least the same level as him? I almost beat it but screwed up a turn and got wiped
Funny, when I do this, none of my characters take their turns in the order I want them to, and I get wrecked before I can even apply a single Pomegranate. 75% luck?
Depends. Turn order is fairly random but determined by the speed stat. This is why Ophilia goes first almost all the time - because I gave her so many speed-boosting items and the dancer class for even more speed.
