Upgrading 3D printers is not my thing, a printer is a tool used to create projects, not a project on its own. But Octoprint is different, I love it! And I think there are a lot of reasons why you might love it too!

Look for Klipper with Fluidd/Mainsail and you will fall in love with that... You already have Rpi, so you can do it without spending any money. In Klipper you can set Pressure Advance and Resonance Compensation, sou you can cut even half of time while printing parts. In addition when you want to change something in your printer firmware, you don't have to compile and upload new /bin file with firmware - you just edit .cfg file and restart printer and new configuration is updated. In addition you can install f.e. Tailscale VPN, and then you can also control printer and watch it from accross the whole world ;)

You need to re-upload your Raspberry Pi holder. Both models are the same, so without the holder, it can't be used. Thanks in advance! I would love to check it out.

the (drawer and the holder) are the same .stl, can you fix that on the link ?

You could also try a solution like SimplyPrint or astroprint. That will give you full control over the printer from anywhere as well as extra features on your printer. Loved the video😁

I use a gpio plugin on my raspi/octoprint to turn the printer on and off with a relay... As always, great vid 👍🏼

Hello Nikodem, I think you can use the Octoprint plugin "System Command Editor" to add customized buttons to your Octoprint Interface. I use this plugin to switch on/off a light on the extruder, which is controlled via the GPIO pins of the raspberry. I use a python script to control the gpio pins. You can write your python commands in a script-file and then assess the script-file with the "System Command Editor" Plugin. Within the plugin you have to add simply a command like "python /location-of-your-script/your-script"

octoprint can also be used on an old Phone so no Raspberry Pi is needet.

Very handy setup, Pi Zero 2W can do the job as well and can just leave it attached to printer.

For turning the printer power on/offf you can also use relay boards for rpi/arduino. Much cheaper

I mean you say printers shouldn’t be a project but if you can upgrade the components to improve consistency and longevity I’d say it’s well worth it

No! I said I don't like to turn printers into project, but if someone likes that then that's great! And of course improving the efficient is sometimes well worth it :)
