In my country, you basically can't access fireworks as an average consumer - you need a pyrotechnician's licence. I gather they are relatively easy to access in the US? I feel terribly for anyone who's experienced such a shocking injury from something that is purely designed for entertainment. At the same time I am reminded of yet another of the many things that differentiate my country from the US. No judgement, here - just once again remembering that no matter what people here may say, the US is indeed markedly different in so many ways from Australia. I note, though, that it was not specified where those injuries had occurred? Nonetheless, I expect the incidence of such is significantly lower here than in America. Fireworks injuries like that are pretty much unheard of in most state/territory hospitals here. Not all - but most. The fact that US hospitals may be routinely dealing with fireworks injuries at least one day a year had just never occurred to me 😕

didn't we interbreed with them anyway, though? I thought it might have just been a warning identification awareness not to breed with those who carried genes which resulted in a different appearance (i.e. various visible markers for disorders) or who simply were injured enough that their appearance had changed to the point it could warn you they might not make the least vulnerable parent for your offspring. Humans notice any appearance that they are unaccustomed to seeing around them in another human (think of the shock of so many indigenous peoples on first encountering foreign invaders!) so it seems like the "uncanny valley" awareness is just another manifestation of that.

I'm sorry, but I have a wicked sleep disorder and have never found any of these "tips" to be remotely useful. Basically, the only way I sometimes know I'm awake is if things go on being relatively the same (to the point of dullness) for a prolonged period and without repeating themselves. Some days, it can take a couple of hours before I'm convinced 😕

@@dontbefatuousjeffrey2494 is your nose clogged while you sleep? if not, just squeeze your nose and do that reality check. you need to be focused tho, otherwise your brain will discard the realization and you’ll keep dreaming non-lucid

@@bork6996 Thank you for your concern, but no, my nose is not clogged while I sleep. My sleep disorder has nothing to do with breathing issues. I can be semi-lucid dreaming and STILL fail any "checks" to see whether I am asleep or not. I also often have auditory, visual and physical (sensation) hallucinations while technically awake but in a state of sleep-paralysis. I know what I am experiencing is not real, but it is distressing nonetheless. And then there are the actual dreams.. It's ok. I hate it, but accept I have to live with it. It causes some disruption to both sleep and to waking life, but it's just a thing I can't avoid completely all the time so I try to manage it the best I can 🙂 edit: perhaps it would reassure to let you know I can be in full lucid-dreaming mode and yet again be unable to fully rouse in order to break my very sensorily vivid dreams - or even to fully control them, though at least these dreams often offer me some MEASURE of control. Some of them are genuinely wonderful, although even these can often feel exhausting. I just take each night as it comes, and deal with each problem as it arises. My best tip is to (once I am finally able to fully rouse) get up, eat a small snack, and sit up in bed reading or watching something with bright light on till I am drowsy again. Sometimes this only takes about half an hour. While it doesn't inevitably work, it usually does - it serves to break a distressing pattern. Sorry for the long response. Thanks again

@@skylinefever So people who have a prescription for "opiate" medicine, and take it as directed, should be given Narcan.... when they overdose on the drug they have been taking as directed? PLEASE look up the difference between Naloxone and Naltrexone. What you are saying makes no sense, and your over-confidence in your position is likely the result of a simple misunderstanding, at least in part.
