Lovely words mate, some unfortunately so very true. I've had quite a few dogs over my 75 years, all mongrels and strays. Elli, my whippet - lurcher is around 10 now. She may live to 14 but what can I do when she goes. Maybe find some old mangey wrinkly like me so we can both make a mess on the lawn. The dog before Elli, Luna was over 18 when she died. Best to wait and see who snuffs it first - LOL.

I think Death Valley Days made a show about that story. Ronald Reagan was the star. Glad to see the puppys. Looks like Suzie is starting to chill a bit😊.....i commented before i watched all the video.

When I was 7 I got a dog sam later old sam. When he was about 9 months old I was at my grandparents farm for the summer. It was on a island with lots of navy people. The county had no dog pounds when sailers were deployed or transferred they would turn their dogs loose . They formed into packs and because a dangerous threat to livestock and wildlife. I found several deer heads even a bears head they had eaten the rest. Well old sam probably found a girlfriend in a pack and ran away he was gone . Summer ended as did the next no sam . My grandparents were moving to the big city and on the last day the last load of stuff Gramps was loading up sam came back. Sam had rules now . He refused to shit in the yard , he wouldn't walk on a leash he'd walk with you but put a leash on him he'd plant his butt and you could pull his head off but he wasn't moving. And a big one was no dog food. Table scraps or nothing. One day I was in the woods behind the house and a cottontail ran past me like the devil was on his ass. A few feet behind him was a white blur . It was old sam. They ran deep in the woods and a half hour or so later sam came. Back wagging his tail his muzzle was covered in blood . He had caught and ate the rabbit. That's why he wouldn't eat dog food he hunted his food. We think dogs like the free food that's why they stay with us. I'm. Old now and can say sam loved us that's why he came back. Not for the free meals . He. Was cranky too and if you set a beer down he'd steal it.imagine a cranky drunk dog that looked like a bigger version of benji that could cuss with his eyes. When I was 18 a blizzard his -96° wind-chill complete whiteout . Sam was gone after a out 12 hours I bundled up and went out I used the extension cord were used to plug the car in to get 100 feet from the house and be able to get back I yelled into the howling wind for him finally I was driven inside from the cold a few minutes later we heard him pushing against the storm door . Poor guy he looked like thing from the fantastic 4 ice balls head to toe the snow hit him melted then froze as ice in his for . It took hair dryers to thaw him. Smh what a dog
