An awesome rock version! The best I've ever heard!
By X Japan on December 31st 1993 at Tokyo Dome (scroll down to read the rest).
2008 version with 4 guitarists (including Richard Fortus from Guns n Roses and Wes Borland from Limp Biskit): • Ode to Joy rock version ^_^
Attention: It's okay to say bad things about them, but please do not swear! I'll remove all coments with this content without prior warning.

Vocals: Toshi
Lead guitar (signature Fernandes hide MG-145X.): hide (read as "heedeh")
Rhythm guitar (1959 Les Paul Standard): Pata (read as "pahtah")

My Mom and I always shared a deep affection for Ode to Joy and whenever I miss her, sometimes I listen to it. Though I miss her more often than I listen to it. ♥️ Love this version too!

I have this DVD. I bought it while I was in Japan a couple of weeks ago. Watched it yesterday for the first time, and recognised it, I was like, awesome. I love classical music pieces that are turned into rock versions. They always sound good.

Strange, the bootleg of this same show (1993.12.31) was on the internet , and the oficial dvd was launched in 2007 i think, so this is a very old video xd

@JulianPheaz Julian, X Japan were the innovators of the subgenre "Visual Kei" which is popular in Japan, and growing in popularity around the world. Have a look at WIKIPEDIA's entry on Visual Kei as well X Japan. Don't mistake the androgynous costumes with similar charactersitics in EMO, which has its roots in Goth.

This song makes me want to split open and spew forth tiny versions of myself, all playing this on various instruments. This is the sort of epic that is infectious and will make everything you do more interesting. The singer should've just sat this out though.
