I have the original and love the artwork on the new one as well. I'd love to acquire a copy. This will go great with folks who want truly simplified rules.
Finally picked this up. It is such a better game in this form. I appreciate that its now a much lighter game, but the rules are far more consistent and elegant, the original just seems a bit messy, and jumbled by comparison. Wont be going back to the original.
I just ordered this after seeing one of your all's top ten 2 player games lists. trying to get the "old lady" into more gaming. She likes racing and Vikings so maybe . . . . Thanks for the great review.
Like how these thin cards look. Nice artwork also. Btw, when you combine two cards of one type to be able to move through a different type of land, can you move more than once if there are more lands of that other type connected (just like Zee did at the end of his overview)? Anyway, looks like a simple, nice two player game. Gave me a vibe of Voluspa (similar setting, artwork).
Seems okay, but I'll stick with the original. I picked up the German Kosmos edition six months ago for $20, If you can find it for under $30, I would recommend it. The mechanics stripped from this new version are what I believe adds depth to this quick playing two-player game. My only complaint about the game is that the table space required hurts its portability.
Hmm, you got me interested with this one. Seems like a good pick for me and my gf, since it does seem pretty light, so we could watch something on the TV while playing.
Well for my 2 cents (no one asked for it, I know) I LOATHE this game. One of the few games I actually rated on BGG due to my rage levels. This is a complete luck fest with no redeeming gameplay. It looks nice, but that's it imho. I'm actually considering a ceremonial burn for it - I would never give this to someone else - all copies in existence must be purged!
