In this video, I review the new OEX Heiro Solo Stove. I unbox, carry out two timed boil tests and discuss the postives and negatives.

I got a similar stove which has piezo ignition from AliExpress for around 25 pound and i got the pot or pan stand the main pot which is big enough for a litre of water and the canister stand im not saying or claiming its better but for the money its exceptional value

That sounds like a good deal. 👍🏻 It’s great to take a stove out on a long hike so you can cook up some lunch/brew especially in this autumn weather.

The fire maple pot stand fits perfectly and no mods required, also cheaper than the Jetboil pot stand

I think if you had used the pot lids they would have significantly changed the boil times. While I don't have either of these I would choose the Jetboil, simply because it's bigger and like a more usable small pan than the tall and narrow OEX. Because I mainly use dehydrated meals when out on a hike I personally use a small kettle that I can, at a squeeze, fit in a bandana (wrapped around everything to stop rattles and marking the inside of the kettle), a small gas canister, a canister stand, my Soto Windmaster 4-flex stove and a lighter, for just in case. It takes up very little space in my pack and is light enough. Also the kettle is way easier for me to pour without spillage than a standard pot. Peace

My only gripe is the connection for the pot to the stove is a little rough, cant argue for the price, i bought 2 😂, wont replace my jet boil but its not trying to its a decent honest bit of kit. I picked up the OEX etna mini stove aswell for 8quid on offer thats cracking little back-up stove. Good review mate 👍

Thanks for watching. Agree with what you said. Great little stove but I’ve got the Minimo so that’ll be the stove of choice for now. Want that orange skillet though! 😂

@@HikingForHealth1 haha nice that skillet seems pretty hard to get a hold of 1. I've got the jetboil mighty mo and the ceramic pot that's a lovely bit of kit. Spent an absolute fortune on stoves and cooksets becomes a bad habit 🤣

I have recently bought one, only used it to boil water so far. The jetboil pot support has also arrived. Needs a small modification to fit. I have made a very short video about it and uploaded it to my channel. Great review.

Thanks for the review. Is it possible to pull down the neoprene sleeve? Because it seems weird that your bottom lip would be touching neoprene when drinking from the cup without the lid...

Hi, yes it can be pulled down. It goes around the handle also. The lid also has a vent/sipping section but I never use that for worry of the lid popping off. Hope that was of some use. Cheers.

Good video review 👍. My wife just bought me a heiro stove so I thought I’d check out some of the videos online & yours came up. Please don’t take this as criticism, but if you put the lid on your pot while boiling water then it’ll come to a boil quicker & be more efficient with your gas use. Thanks for your video. I'm liking your channel! I can see you are just like me, "theres always another one to buy..."! For me the two killer features are a stabilizing stand and a large pot support for when I stick a frying pan on which as you say, this doesn't have. For a compact stove that you just boil water with, this seems great and incredible value. Do you think you will use it?

What size gas should I use!? I bought one after watching this video but I'm clueless....the supplier can't help Do you know where to buy them from please? UK

Hi if you’re based in the UK these gas canisters are available from outdoors shops like decathlon, go outdoors, blacks, millets etc… they tend to have the same screw fitting at the top. The size of these canisters allows you to go lightweight or if weight isn’t an issue as you have a van, or just taking in your car the bigger canisters can be used. As long as it has the same screw fitting. All the best.

Haha. It was a good deal. Must admit though it’s a cracking little stove for the price. I’ve got the Jetboil Minimo and that would be my preference but the Heiro is great as a back up.
