Is this two person tent worth spending £149 on OR should we wait to go outdoors, have a sale on, and pick this oex jackal ll man tent up for around £90.

Great vid. Re putting the tent up, it depends on circumstance as to if I peg or pole first, if I’m in a sheltered area with no wind then I’ll put the poles in first, but I’ve also camped on the side of hills/mountains so have needed to peg the tent first

Good evening. As far as pegging before or after putting the poles, to me, it depends on the tent. I have several tents and my largest cabin tent, and one of my two backpacking tents (a Fench F2) requires the stakes first. My dome and modified dome tents can be staked after the poles are in. Both have their advantages. Thank you for the review. While it would be nice to split the weight of the tent with my partner Meeka, she has enough to carry her bed, food, toy, and bowls, haha. I enjoy your videos. Keep having fun and stay safe.

Hello Dan , my Vango is a similar setup , only you have to put in one pole while it is flat on the ground , then the other two poles go in , they are all equal length poles , no particular places for them .🙂

I’ve had my jackal for about 3 years and was out in it last weekend up at ros castle in Northumberland.30mph winds and it was barely moving.i know 30mph is nothing really before anyone says so but it was solid and could easily handle 50mph

Regarding what item in each stuff sack. Maybe its so the poles dont 'pinch' the outer has its needed for the waterproofing. Just a thought.

I know OEX tents are very popular and many people love them. I bought Phoxx 2 V2. I've never owned an OEX tent before. Let me tell you the stitching was atrocious! The zips literally could be pulled off by hand, stitching was the finest of cotton, hanging threads everywhere! My one and only OEX. I usually always stick to Vango as they're quality is in a different league to OEX in my opinion. Never again OEX!

@@marko7969 Ironically, I have an OEX small folding camping chair, I did really like it. I have used it three times, yesterday I went out magnet fishing and thought I'd use it as it would be ideal to sit for a coffee. I was flabbergasted when I took it out of its bag, 90% of the fake leather had both torn and come unstitched. NEVER again would I buy anything OEX, absolutely crap quality, fact. God only knows what their Rucksacks are like! I'd bet the bottom would fall out after a week!!! Lol.

Although I don’t need a tent, I have been interested in these OEX ones since you’ve mentioned them and so today I popped to Go Outdoors to have a look. Not sure what’s happened but every single tent of the OEX brand had water inside from the rain. None of the other makes did. All the tents were zipped up too. Kind of put me off.

Dan, I've got a Hyena 2 and a air mattress to lay on. My air mattress is very noisy when o move around. What is the most comfortable air mattress/air bed that's not so plastic.. The noise it made with every move I made kept me awake most of the night.

Hey Dan, I know how you love your OEX gear but have you thought about checking out some different brands? Like Alpkit, Snugpak and other UK based gear manufacturers. I currently have a mix or Snugpak, TerraNova and Alpkit gear amongst others.

Only 2 pegs at back just to stop blowing away, then polls. You can't get proper tension if you peg out first, risk of damage.

If it's windy il peg it down across 4 corners then put poles through, if not then I peg 1 end insert poles and then peg it out fully m8. Iv got Nordisk Halland which is a very similar design

pegs or poles first? It depends on the tent design. Pyramid tents with a single center pole need to have the floor pegged first, for example. Same idea for tents that clip onto a frame.

That's my tent...it's an amazing tent..and deffo a four seasons tent...it's well looked after me under terrible conditions never let me down ever...poles are a bitch at first..

Don’t see why not as long as you have something to prop it up and make sure you don’t have it sloping back toward the tent so that no rain can run backwards

Another great video thanks Dan. I've just bought the Hyena and an OEX Expedition tarp, only had it up in the garden but great bits of kit. A bit of pub camping in two weeks time 👍🏻🍻 Liking the sheet for the vestibule on your Jackal, also noticed that the base of the vestibule on the Hyena has quite a gap from the ground to the base of the flysheet around the vestibule area. Keep up the good work.
