Austin wanted to show off Robs opera training ( 15 years ago) and kept pestering him. Rob finally said yes, but only if he joined him. So Rob chose this aria because its his fathers favorite.

This shows proof that they can sing just about anything, any genre. Opera is hard to pull off for anyone, it's in a class by itself, and they did a spectacular job.

A tear in the eyes of the listener is normal .... these two young men are PHENOMENAL Mid & High TENORS whose voices blend so well together ( See = Home Free vocal band) and their talent is so great they can sing Literally Anything .... and that includes operatic arias with sweet harmony not found in typical operas of such range ! GBjj

I have never been a big fan of opera except maybe some Andrea Bocelli & a few others. But I have always appreciated the talent it takes to sing opera. I was pretty impressed with Rob & Austin's version of Nessun Dorma. I have heard this famous song done by Pavarotti. I think I was more surprised by Rob's range & powerful delivery than even Austin's. Pretty good for a couple of country boys! Nice to see them dressed up in suits & looking classy. Rob had some opera training about 15 years ago & Austin has been trained in musical theatre.

Such a treat! But seriously, Rob sounds like a different artist than we hear when he sings with Home Free! I don't care for opera, but these two "tried" and did what I didn't expect--they made me want to watch it over and over again. Who knew? 🤭 #RobLundquist #theAustinBrown

In an interview with Patrol Gaming channel, Austin said he really wanted to show off "opera Rob"; however, Rob said he wouldn't unless Austin sang it with him. Rob had extensive opera training, Austin had some but his degree is in Music Theater. Austin went on to say that he'd been okay but that Rob was just fantastic. I love how they support each other!

From what I understand, this is a difficult aria to sing. It was made famous by Pavarotti. I've seen several voice teachers and opera singers react to this, and all were impressed with Rob's voice! Rob studied opera in college and Austin studied musical theater.

Vincero! (I will win!) This is from Turandot by Puccini. The title Nessun Dorma means "Let no one sleep". This is in the final act sung by the character Calaf, the unknown prince, who has fallen in love with the beautiful but cold Princess Turandot. Any man who wishes to wed Turnadot must answer three riddles. If he fails he will be beheaded. In this area, Calaf expresses his triumphant assurance that he will win the princess. This has most notably been sung by the late, great, Luciano Pavarotti, as well as many other great tenors. Rob and Austin, not being actual opera singers do a fantastic job. It's not up to opera standards, but most of us can't tell the difference! I think it's pretty darn good and I've listened to this at least 100 times. It's been reacted to by a couple of actual opera singers who point out the differences, most notably Maggie Renee, and Peter Barber. Peter Barber, an opera bass, said that with a year or two with a vocal coach, Rob could sing opera, and Austin would need a bit more work on his lower registers. That's actually a high complement. Opera is extremely difficult and there is a lot of technique involved because they sing without microphones. They have to project to the audience without them. Peter's review is quite long, but worth the time if you're interested in the intricacies of opera singing.
