i love aaron's little smile when he sings and the way his eyebrows reads his emotions and how alan is so concentrated on the guitar and how his fingers dance across the fret aimlessly. theyre both so beautifully talented its unreal.
This the first ever Of Mice & Men song I ever heard, I didn't even know Shay sang & wrote it. I just heard it and looked up the band. I hate when people talk shit about Aaron because his job is to sing...I just don't understand why people must hate him. These boys are honestly some of my idols and I love them to pieces. Also, cannot wait to see these guys live next month! ^-^
You all act like this is Shay's song and get mad when Aaron sings it. IT'S HIS JOB! Seriously, Shay may have of wrote it and sang it, but that doesn't mean it's his. Shay left the band. Aaron joined. It was hard. The song is not Shay's it is the bands, and Aaron is apart of the band. Aaron's an awesome guy and you guy's shouldn't get mad that he's doing his job and you should respect him. It's okay to dislike it because he doesn't sound okay but it's not okay to get mad because it's not who YOU want singing it. Respect the band guys, and stop getting mad. Would you honestly rather them NEVER do the song EVER again?! This song has helped people and if they quit singing because Shay sang the song and Aaron didn't then do you realize how many fans would be bummed out if they went to a concert and didn't get to hear the song that saved them because of some petty selfish reason like that. This is like saying Shay shouldn't have of been allowed to sing in Second & Sebring because it was Austin's song. Respect the band.
It is shays song but like you said, he's only doing his job. Just like everyone who complained that Craig sang old songs, he had to. But maybe they also find it fun to bring back good past memories for fans.
Why doesn't Aaron get more attention? He should have as many fangirls! Same with Phil! They're all so amazing! I love Austin, Alan and Tino, but those two deserve just as much attention.
I had lunch with Aaron and his girlfriend Amanda when they were in Portland. Very very nice people,way down to earth. It was an amazing moment to get to know them. And I got to go inside the band bus and meet the rest, never will forget it. :)
to be honest i don't know why everyone doesn't like that the girls were singing. hell if i was in a band and had that many fans singing one of my songs i would break down in tears. yes its not Aarons song but still. he's part of OM&M now so it kinds makes it his song too. i think the girls singing made this kinda better. i would love for a fan of mine to sing with me while I'm performing. it would make things that much amazing.

Video of him recording it too. He was definitely a great writer and a great fit for the band. Aaron is cool and all but I don't think he'll be able to quite fit Shay's shoes.
When did Aaron say it was his own song? Never. Hes just singing it to some fans calm down. We all know shayley wrote it and everything. Does that mean people cant cover it? No.
I'm chill, I know he didn't said that, but it's weird how they don't care to play it, and he doesn't play it anymore when it really should be the other way around
actually im not mad at all by this. i think people forget that shayley left the band of good terms. And if shay does own the lyrical rights to the song they could have just asked him if it was alright if they still play it and shay could have said yes. You dont know what they are doing behind the scenes dont be so quick to hate everything
At first I thought I was gonna be kinda irritated cause Shay wrote this song and he's actually making a kinda series like this but then Aaron is such a sweetheart that I can't really blame him,.. Plus it's his job after all and I really like him. But this particular song feels like it belongs to Shay more than OM&M. This and My Understandings
I completely agree. Just doesn't feel right without Shayley and I feel like he didn't have to sing it but then again it's on the Of Mice & Men album so.. 😪
What scares me in a way about this video is that at 0:16 Alan knows (thinks?) it's a gunshot. What makes me smile though is that he's worried for their safety and not his own. I think that's really sweet. I really like how the girls sang along too. Gave me goosebumps. :) Nice job guys and gals.
Really people. Why do you get mad that Aaron sang this song? I mean wtf, when a band changes and new singers step in, they sing the songs of the old vocalist sung or wrote and made on the cd the fans know and love. Don't hate. You know how many of Austin song that either Nick Barham(old attack attack vocalist after Austin) and what Jerry sang or screamed. Like does it matter really. It would be awesome tho to have Aaron sing a song from Jamie's Elsewhere like "Out of Love" from the ep that was out last year.
I know a lot of people are like this is Shayley's song, well alot of people respect that and so do Alan and Aaron but Shayley did make the choice to leave the band and Shayley probably gave them permission to use it still. So stfu and get over it
A lot of the people closest to Alan and Aaron didn't know the words and were just talking. Kind of a shame as I bet there were tonnes of people who would have killed to be in their spot who cared a little bit more.
i'll be sure to tell aaron and alan to not let the people sing along the next time they have a free public appearance "signing/sing along" (Aaron's words, not mine) :)

lol why is everyone freaking out over everyone singing with them, like I don't know if anyone else heard in beginning when Aaron asked for them to sing along? Also, just because Shayley wrote the song doesn't mean that they can't play it. He wrote the song and put it on the OM&M album, which means is OM&M's too. It's basically like saying that since Mitch from SS isnt around anymore the new singer shouldn't be allowed to sing any of the music that he wrote. Music is music, let it be. Don't argue over it.

Just because shayley wrote the song does not mean he owns it. It was released by of mice and men. Not shayley bourget. And plus I don't see you people complaining on covers of the song by fans that if should only be sung by shayley. You guys need to get over the fact that Aaron is singing "when you can't sleep at night". Even though Shay wrote that song while he was in Of Mice & Men so technically anyone in Of Mice & Men could sing it. Aaron has a right to sing it. He is in Of Mice & Men and Shay isn't anymore. Its just like saying other people can't sing a song because they didn't write it.

no......first you cant even hear aaron singing because of all the fangirls, second they shouldnt even be singing this song, it was a special CD only track that SHAYLEY wrote and composed, though it was released under Of Mice & Men they should have respect for shay and not sing it, alan didnt even know the right tabs, its like escape the fate does really sing the day i left the womb out of respect for ronnie, blessthefall rarely sings higinia out of respect for craig, so this really bugs me, i love the guys but, im not so sure how this aaron thing is going to work out, it doesnt feel right to me, maybe its just me though, eh whatever

Im pretty sure you're the one who needs to open their eyes. You clearly stated it was an Of MIce and Men song, Aaron is a part of Of Mice and Men, there for he has the right to sing the song, end of story. If everybody thought like you no one would ever do covers of songs.
Shayley wrote it but the song belongs to of mice and men. He's not mad about it ether, he made "when you fall asleep at night" with his new band dayshell. His anxiety was to much for him so he had to leave of mice and men and a lot of people would be upset if of mice and men stopped singing most of there songs cause shayley left. He's not in the band but you shouldn't get upset if he isn't.
***** its one of the few things shayley actually owned in that band. he never got the fame he deserved and its like the just stole one of the last pieces of him that band had, its upsetting.
