Off is something very far in the past for me, but I'm really amazed by all the work you invested in the creation of this episode ! I'm really proud to have made a game that resonates with so much people, for such a long period of time. Thanks to you and to all the fandom !!

i honestly love the batter's voice acting? the mispronunciation of certain words and his tone makes it sound sort of like something mimicking human speech rather than someone just speaking which adds a sort of chill to it that i dont think would be there if he just had generic male protagonist voice (which i dont think would be right for a character like the batter anyway)

I can't wait for zacharie to break the fourth wall by telling the batter that they are in an animated adaptation of a videogame

I really like the unsettling aspect of the batter’s voice. It feels like, almost unnatural? Like it’s supposed to sound like a human, but it just...isn’t? It’s dope!

The Judge: Introduces himself clearly, eloquently and in his classic pithy nature. Batter: “i’M tHe bAiTeR.”

I kinda like how the batter speaks. It sounds like as person that is new to a body and someone who struggles with human speech. That might sound weird but I really like it.

I know a few people with "perfect" accents, pronouncing everything so precisely that it sounds strange. That's what I imagined the batter sounding like but this is honestly great too.

I actually like Batter's voice. He sounds like he's both fitting of the world, and not. Like a newcomer or someone who hasn't been in a while. Plus, with the guidance of the player, he may not be used to talking on his 'own' anymore, so the player would 'help' if given the prompt. Either way, I like the voice. It's unusual at first, but the more I rewatch it the more it grows on me!

The Batters pronounciation of english words sounds like they are not a native speaker. I like that, it's new. People don't do that with protagonists and it's great. I hope you keep voicing him 💓

personally I think the Batter should of been a silent protagonist in this that communicates through his movements, actions and body language.

Judge's voice and dialogue are... poetic. It's like he's wise old man, except he's a cat and is judging your actions. Like an actual cat. ... I GET IT! 😋

I'm kinda a fan of The Batter's strange voice acting? It really adds to the atmosphere of the character in my opinion and I think it fits very well given well, everything we know about him. Also on a side note I sincerely hope you continue this project as I have quite the itch to see a purified zone rendered in your wonderful animation

The animation is really incredible, absolutely top notch, but I'm really not a fan of the Batter's voice. It's barely understandable sometimes, and the fact that he says 'The Baiter' and not 'The Batter' is really unfortunate. The Judge was great though, big fan of him.

Since everyone is talking about the voice acting bit, I'd like to discuss other parts of this. I really liked how "quiet" some of your shots are. Lingering just a little bit on shots like them running and the zoomed out view of Zone 0 really helps set the seemingly solemn-ish tone of OFF. I like it a lot. The lip syncing is also pretty good, and showing the Batter without a face a couple times does his character wonders. I don't get why you pitch shifted the Fourteen Residents song, but it's fine. The shot where the Batter whiffs and the judge hits him from behind to make him lose balance was a nice touch that will most likely help show how much the Batter will improve in combat over time. The clean art for the backgrounds is dead on, though I sorta miss the sketchy look of the characters. It would be extremely difficult/time consuming to animate them that way, so I don't blame you for making the call of a cleaner look for them. A cool idea for later on is that during intense fights with certain enemies the art could get a little sketchy... But that's asking a lot from you. I don't want to push you harder when animation is already a brutal process. Overall, I think you captured the essence of OFF adequately well, and I can't wait to see more in the future.

While it's been said to death that The Batter's voice acting could use some work, I really think there is something to the Batter having a very dull, almost detached tone of voice. He strikes me as a very obtuse and awkward man who would rather use as few words as possible. So it would honestly make sense for his tone of voice to be stunted and retrained. My one gripe might be the pronunciation of some words? But even then, it doesn't really ruin anything all too much. I am excited to see how it develops once the next installment of this beautiful work gets released. So fucking happy to see this iconic game get this level of dedicated attention. I am subbed and ready to see this story unfold :) EDIT: Another small critique I have is the real lack of folly. Though I am well aware this is yet another headache when it comes to making media, small sound effects go a long way when it comes to making a world feel both real and believable. I really like the clever use of in game sound effects, and think if you added small stuff like footsteps and the sounds of objects moving/swinging/ect, it would really help make this project feel even more polished. I am super hype to see more! I really hope the algorithm picks this up and brings OFF back into the public's attention.

I didn't know about the game "Off" and clicked on your video because of the pretty preview... It was quite a trip, man! Very interesting, unsettling. I like your animation and this simple shapes of buildings! And yes i like the Batter's voice. I think he should sound like inhuman creature with strange notes in his voice. You just KNOW that he isn't human (you know like Gman sounds? something like that). He is dangerous, i can feel he won't stop during his mission. Thank you! I will wait for new chapters!

I think that everyone in the comments should give the Batters VA a chance. Seeing foreign pronunciation isn't common, and OFF is a foreign game anyways. Honestly, I'd love the whole series to be in French like the original game was made.

YOOOOOOOOO THIS IS SICK!!!!!! The animation is So Smooth it’s criminal, I love it so much!!! And the voice acting for the Judge is absolutely Perfect 10/10. The VA for the Batter could use a bit of practice but that’s ok!!!! His voice still fits him. I really love the perspective in some of the shots, really well done. Anyway, this is the best thing I’ve seen this week, this month, this year, thank you (and the VAs) So Much for putting this much work into it, we all really appreciate it!!! Also I really loved the small bonk sound when the bat hit the ground during the fight lmao that got me. This is seriously the best fan made animation I’ve ever seen for any fandom, it’s incredible. Keep up the great work my dude :))

9:48 Holy SHIT I just had an intense nostalgia bomb from 2013. I remember finding "Stay In Your Coma" on the OST, and wondering where the hell it came from because it's not in the game. It's so short but I ended up listening to it on repeat This was amazing, OFF is an underrated game that shaped my perception of gaming when I first played it

I had no idea what this was coming into this, my eye was caught by the thumbnail and I was entranced. This feels like something made by Studio Ghibli, especially when he enters the nothingness. All the voices fit really well with the characters and I am really excited to see more. Thank you.

I love how fucking smooth and clean this is, a friend of mine mentioned this yesterday and it popped up in my recs today! I hope you continue with this, like I can see how much care you put into it and how much work there is, but I’ve never seen anyone do such an awesome vid for OFF! It’s just so fucking good I wanna see the other lands and the bosses in this style

I will say this episode looks great. The style of animation dose feel like it matches the game a bit, but a little more cleaner. However, not to mention the Elephant in the room, but I think the weakest part of the animation is the voice acting. The Judge's voice actor did a fantastic Job, but the Batter's voice just feels weak. I'm sorry but I don't think their wasn't much effort put into the batter voice. Unless I'm missing something important, I think the batters voice is the weakest part of this animation. Still with with my grips overt his, the animation was still good, and almost felt like I'm watching a small show. *_My score 9/10._*

Coming back to it, this was amazing. I loved the visuals, the voice acting (though the Batter sounded a bit weird to me; I always thought of his voice as deeper than that.). You're doing great, I can't wait for episode 2!

I just got into the OFF fandom like, 2 years ago and felt really sad that i didn't get to see the most vivid period of it, but this fills me with joy, It's so cool to see someone put so much effort into making content about OFF after all this time! I... actually really like the Batter’s voice? It makes him sound more like something that is trying to appear as human instead of an actual person. It fits his description on the wiki and his overall character. I admire this already.

it was pretty good but tbh ill be real it has some room for improvement like there isnt too much motion with the characters, it needs a little bit more background detail (like inside the building in zone 0) and the voice acting was a lil OFF (lol) but it is really a good animation and cant wait to see more

I'm so happy that this is finally out! The animation's fantastic- though, I think Sɨssel's voice would be much better suited to a French dub, his accent is just too strong for an English voice for the batter, it sounds unnatural and awkward (not to sound mean, I know everyone's doing their best and speaking other languages is hard!).

OFF is my favourite RPG maker game of all time, I've played it 5/6 times and it never gets tiring or boring, everything about it is wonderful, and you made it justice. Thank you so much for bringing this wonderful story to animation! I'm looking forward to see other parts

I was discussing Tumblr Sexymen with my online friends when I suddenly stumbled upon an individual named „Zacharie“. I wondered who this might be and asked my friend. They told me that he’s from a game called „OFF“. I unknowingly asked, what OFF might be and.. Well, they told me I should totally try it out. I made my little researches, downloaded the 3rd English version and played along. And now I find myself in a deep, deep hyperfixation based on OFF and I‘m honestly so thankful for this existing. Due to the fact that this game is. Old. As hell, I did not expect a lot of good, time-accurate content. But this.. This is a pearl. I’m looking forward to the 3rd episode. Also, big fan of the Batter‘s voice actor here.

This is fantastic, the best only issue is as everyone else says: the Batter’s Voice actor. While I’m sure he’s doing his best, I believe it would’ve been more beneficial to polishing the project to get a separate voice actor for the English version. We’re all fans here, and I’m still absolutely over the moon for any OFF content. The batter is supposed to be a serious and monotone, but this voice just makes it hard to take him seriously :/

I really do appreciate this animation a lot, there are areas that it would be improved on such as the fact that I dont like how the red cube was on screen for so long it felt like filler I guess. I think judges voice actor is really good however I really am not liking the batters voice actor. Something that bothers me the most is how he pronounced it as "baiter." Why wasnt this corrected in the voice acting? The accent I apologize but is mostly difficult to understand. Regardless of critique I think this is really amazing because its very very rare to even have decent animation adaptation to videos such as this in the first place. I hope things are improved in the future! Its still a great animation in most areas

Honestly ? I love the Batter's voice.He is a puppet after all.I just hope with time he will better learn and speak less like a puppet and more like he is his own living being : because in the end,he did lie to his own Puppeteer and manipulated them to accomplish his own dark "mission"...:3

i appreciate how the batter has no face sometimes, but has a face other times. it feels true to the source material. i also like how thoroughly everything is translated from game to animation, but at this rate, the other zones will probably take ten times as long as this one did, each. the art style is beautiful, and perfect. i adore it.
