Never know when you are going to need a 3d printed knife to protect yourself from a bear. Make sure to use the draft settings to print faster before the bear gets within hugging distance.

We've lived on boats for 35 years and nomadic at various times. We are currently running four printers and building prosthetics we donate to people in Central America. We are past the end of the road. Have unreliable mains power but have solar and a diesel generator all of which feed out battery bank that kicks out power through a pure sine inverter. Maybe not pure off grid but been there as well. We are in the edge of the jungle, on a riveron a boat and do most traveling about locally with a launcha. Come give jungle printing a try!

that sounds awesome, I'm never far enough from a stable grid to really justify using this power station, but it's fun to experiment with and learn the ropes in case I would need to go off grid

This is one of the reasons why I unironically think we should work to further the power efficiency of 3d printing. only a few watts of power actually goes into melting the filament I think one paper said, SO much is wasted. I think with something like the GARCAD hotend (god rest his soul), but with aerogel insulation we could get a lot closer to that goal, especially with PLA. For something like ABS you would also want an uber insulated heated chamber, etc.

just stack a second power bank and one or two 3-foot HEPA filters onto the toilet with your printer, stick up some RGBs, and climb to the top, and you've got yourself a perfectly cozy port-a-potty workspace!

Nathan, I can honestly say I enjoyed this video. I want to "share," but I'm concerned if I do, Luke's Laboratory is more likely to watch, and he may buy this printer, and bring it on all of our camping trips. Cool, was just watching an offgrid couple (runaway matt +cass) and they were complaining how a trash can cost 30 dollars, i told them to get a 3d printer... prbably the same in filament if not more, but at leatse it would be cool looking. Take it to their ranch and print some goat jewlery and accesories to dress them up a bit , let them feel nice.

Yeah you can use it as a UPS. I think it would be able to run a bank of 4 printers through a 2 hour power outage.

The K1C is a bit bulky for mobile printing. What I would love to see from Creality is an update of the Ender 2. A small formfactor printer with all the modern shenanigans.

I agree, but the A1 Mini is so good and built using cheaper electronics, so it would be a hard for creality to offer a better value there.

@@NathanBuildsRobots I'm wondering whether Bambu Lab is still making any money at all with the A1 Mini. With a price point of $200 there shouldn't be much profit left. I wouldn't be surprised if Bambu Lab is deliberately making a loss in order to gain market share.
